Devolver Digital that System Era Softworks’ 2019 survival crafting game is getting its first paid DLC. Glitchwalkers will add new biomes, technology, gameplay features, and “that game’s first true villain.” I guess they don’t count that one player in a group that ꧅tries to sabotage everyone else. That’s usually me.
I’m going to paste part of the press release here because I don’t know how else to describe the🐼 DLC:
“Players seeking new challenges are in for a treat with the introduction of Lyn, a disgruntled member of the ESS Elysium crew who has taken to tinkering with the Astroneer Training Program’s (ATP) code. Players must work with the Elysium’s Head of Maintenance, Frank, to stop Lyn and her nefarious plans before she dismantles the ATP from the insജide.”
“Glitchw൩alkers will transport players to Aeoluz, an enormo♉us new planet born in a glitched solar system where they’ll be tasked with counter hacking Lyn and breaking firewalls to return the ATP to normal.”
I’m not totally sure what to make of that. The trailer doesn’t really say much, either, at least not to someone who’s only familiar with the early game, such as myself. I really enjoyed Astroneer back when I played it in Early Access, but the person I ൲was playing it with didn’t𝕴 dig it, so we stopped just as I was getting into it. The important thing with this announcement is that there will be more biomes and a new tech tree.
This news follows Devolver’s purchase of System Era Softworks late last year. It’s interesting to see a game that reached 1.0 year♔s ago get paid DLC, but that’s one of the benefits of the digital marketplace. I guess.
Astroneer’s Glitchwalkers DLC does not yet have an announce🅠d release window.
