I played Square’s first Front Mission title way back in the day on the Super Nintendo. I enjoyed the strategy RPG, and I was pissed off that they didn’t localize it for the US after playing it. Looking back over the years, the series got the shaft. In 2005, the fifth game in the series was released on the PS2. I never got around to playing it, but I heard that the game was epic in scope. I guess that was true, as the people at the Front Mission Series Translation Project took years to put their translation together.
They put in thousands of hours on the over 2,000 pages of dialogue over a couple of years to make this. clearly details all of the work they put into this, including historical research. Hatꦅs off to these guys.
Now the translation is done and . I’ve already said this once this morning, but you really have to respect the work these fans put into projects like this one. Check out the game’s opening movie (above), subtitled by the group.
[thanks, RB]
