Hooded Horse and Eremite Games have of Against the Storm’s upcoming 1.4 patch. This major update will bring major content additions to the base game.ꦺ However, its release date has not yet been announced.
The major focus of the 1.4 patch is to bring in additional resources and production. The marquee feature here is fishing, which is done at pon𝓡ds. These are resource nodes, much like many of the others that already exist within the game world. These are exploited using fishing huts.
There are also new buildings, resources, needs, and orders. With the addition of new resources and blueprints, Eremite Games acknowledges that this could result in bloat. The random (near-roguelite) nature of Against the Storm requires that you make effective use of what’s available to you rather than allowing you to rely on one single strategy. However, if too much gets added into there, i🐠t✨ can dilute available strategies, making some sessions more difficult than others.
In order to address this, they’re adding in new systems for unlocking things, such as relying on reputation from villager species as requirements. When I reviewed Against the Storm (which I’ll remind you was one of my favorite games of tꦫhe year) at its full launch, one of the things I praised most was its ability to juggle so ⛎many systems and facets without it weakening the overall experience. I can absolutely see how adding more into it could make it unbalanced, but, at this point, Eremite Games has my faith that they can do it.
Eremite also announced that, in la🦩te August, they’ll reveal the new species and new biome that will be added in the upcoming paid DLC. They also announced that they will announce the release date of patch 1.4 at that time. They also remarked that this is an announcement of an announcement. Having worked in this role for a while now, I recognize that announcing an announcement is pretty standard, but it’s still rather weird.
Against the Storm is available 🍨now for PC. The 1.4 update and paid DLC does not c💟urrently have a set release date.
