Careful, your eyes might be playing tricks on you.

After toppling Destiny 2‘s newest Exotic mission, Guardians must return to Kell’s Fall to hunt down Illusory Anchors. These Anchors are the key to opening up powerful options for the new Slayer’s Fang Exotic shotgun, but players have to find them first. Everything is not as it seems in Kell’s Fall, and it will take courage and wits if players hope to strengthen their arsenal with the power of the dead.

The Kell’s Fall Exotic mission is the highlight of Destiny 2‘s latest Act Three of Episode: Revenant. The endeavor takes players deep into a Dracula-inspired stronghold of the Scorn leader Fikrul. While there’s plenty of action on the surface of Kell’s Fall, there is a trove of secrets to uncover within the Exotic mission. After completing it once, players will earn a new Exotic shotgun that can be empowered with four unique Catalysts. The only catch is that Guardians must venture back into Fikrul’s diabolical lair on an even more challenging difficulty if they want to earn these Exotic boons.

After players have completed a run of Kell’s Fall, they’ll earn the Slayer’s Fang Exotic shotgun and open a second version of the Exotic mission. While completing the Episode’s narrative involves going back into Kell’s Fall to partake in a third iteration of the content, Guardians can complete all of the Exotic Catalyst Quests as soon as Expert difficulty is available.

After returning from the first run, players will earn the Quests by talking with Eido and the other involved NPCs in The Last City. There are four in all, Revenant Slayer I-IV. The first step of each Quest is identical; it just asks for Guardians to defeat 20 enemies while under the effects of any Tonic. All four Quests should be completed at the same time, and that will𝓡 open up the next step for each Catalyst Quest: the Illusory Anchor hunt.

Three Illusory Anchors are hidden in four areas throughout the Kell’s Fall Exotic mission. They will only appear when the mission is undertaken on Expert difficulty, adding a little more challenge to the whole ordeal. Thankfully, there are no limited revives in place, so players can take their time locating each Anchor and destroying it without worrying about losing progress or getting sent back to Orbit if the Fireteam goes down.

The Illusory Anchors can only be interacted with if players have equipped the Slayer’s Fang Exotic. Anchors become more visible as players get closer to them with the Exotic, and aiming down the sights of Slayer’s Fang solidifies them. Once an Anchor materializes, Guardians must shoot it with the Exotic shotgun to destroy it and earn Quest progress.

The first locale players will have to head to in the hunt for Illusory Anchors is the Mirror Gallery. This is the first mirror realm segment Guardians traverse in the Exotic mission after smashing through the first set of rubble and following the short fight against The Trickster near the organ room. There is no boss to worry about, but enemies will still try to ruin your day. That said, they don’t respawn infinitely, so they can be focused down and eliminated if they become an issue.

The first Illusory Anchor is nestled immediately to the left of where Guardians appear after entering the mirror realm. It is in between a crystalline tree and a closed door. The second Anchor is a bit further ahead, just before the large room with the gnarled tree growing horizontally. The Anchor is at the end of the preceding hallway, in front of a large navy blue door. The final Ilusory Anchor is in the large room with the horizontal tree, on the opposite side from where the second Anchor was found. It’s in front of the large crystalline pink door on the right side of the room, but Guardians might have to get pretty close to it before it reveals itself.

The next set of Catalysts amps up the heat a bit, as plꦦayers must hunt for the Anchors while juggling a boss encounter. The Fighting Pit is where Guardians face off against Kaniks, The Mad Bom🌞ber. When players head into the mirror realm during the bout, that will be the opportunity to hunt these Anchors down. Thankfully, all three Anchors in the Fighting Pit are pretty close together.

The first Anchor is located right on the central platform in the chamber, floating in the air. A second can be found against the room’s back wall, opposite the mirror portal by a sealed door and some statues. The final Anchor is tucked away in the arena’s side room filled with statues and podiums. It’s right up against a wall.

While fighting Hiraks, The Mindbender, three Illusory Anchors, can be found in the mirror realm. The encounter will occur as usual, but Guardians can see the destructible objects during the bout. In my personal experience, this set of anchors gave my Fireteam the most trouble. After shooting the first Anchor, my Quest step was completed, but the object disappeared for my allies. We couldn’t find any other anchors, so we reset the encounter, and the same thing happened again to another player. The third Guardian seemingly progressed as intended after a third encounter reset, locating and destroying all three anchors before getting a Quest update.

After porting into the main room of the mirror realm, the first Anchor is tucked behind the mirror portal the group just exited. The second Anchor is just inside the arena, near a table on the right. The final Anchor can be found in the h🐻allway reached via the opening in the main room. Guardians will locate the Anchor near some boxes and a brazier.

Three Illusory anchors can be located during the final battle against Fikrul. Guardians can participate in the fight as usual, heading into the mirror realm when the Scorn leader readies his big attack. Once inside, players can use Slayer’s Fang to locate, materialize, and destroy the three anchors scattered around the area. There will be plenty of heat on Expert difficulty, but death just serves as a temporary delay.

The first Anchor can be found right near where players exit the portal, by the titular throne in the Throne Room. The second Anchor is in an entryway on the opposite side of the chamber. On the left and right side of this doorway are Dreaming City-esque planters. The Anchor is above the right-side planter if you’re facing the door. The final Anchor is on one of the sides of the room, a bit above eye level. It’s floating by an Awoken statue, again, much like one that you’d find in The Dreaming City.

Once all three anchors are destroyed in any area, Guardians must continue and complete the Exotic mission on Expert difficulty to finish off the Quests. Of course, players can take a break after destroying the Anchors and return to get the Expert completion later; they’ll just lose their checkpoint if it’s not done in the same week. With that known, efficient players will likely opt to do all four Exotic Catalyst Quests during one Expert run, so long as no pesky bugs prevent anchors from appearing for someone.

Once all four Quests are complete, players will earn four new Exotic Catalysts for the Slayer’s Fang. Revenant Slayer I rewards Repulsor Brace, Revenant Slayer II provides Loose Change, Revenant Slayer III gives Stats For All, and Revenant Slayer IV grants Cascade Point. Depending on the needs of the Guardian, that’s a lot of wiggle room for this Exotic shotgun.
