Among Us is a fiendish friendship-wrecking game about sussing out imposters in your crew, and while it’s almost two years old, to climb the sales charts. It’s the number-one best-selling game on Steam right now, and it had 360,000 peak concurrent players on PC today. It’s a beast.

The team behind Among Us had been planning a sequel – a way to escape the “outdated” codebase and build fresh content – but in light of renewed interest in the game, there’s been a change of plans.

“We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1,” Innersloth said today in . “All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1. This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it. We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!”

The developer also🔴 outlined its newly-pivoted plan, including colorblind support, a friends/account system, a new stage themed after Henry Stickmin, and solving the current server issues.

Beyond those features, some of which will “definitely take some time” to implement, Innersloth says there are “LOTS of other things planned too, we just need to prioritize and organize all our plans.”

They have their work cut out for them, but from a player’s perspective, this is fantastic news.
