Riot releases trailer for behind-the-scenes docuseries Arcane: Bridging the Rift

Making good art ain’t easy

We’ve seen a lot of video game adaptations over the past few years, but none of them have been quite as successful as Riot’s League of Legends TV show Arcane. The Netflix series was praised by critics and fans alike, has already won multiple awards ahead of the , and Season 2 of the show has been confirmed for quite a while. Plenty of people are curious as to how Riot managed to pull off creating one of the best game-to-TV adaptations of all time, myself included, and now the studio is giving us a glimpse into their process of creating Arcane with a brand new docuseries.

This morning Riot released a trailer for the five-part docuseries called Arcane: Bridging the Rift, which will cover the series’ development from the writers’ room all the way up to its release. We’ll get interviews from all stages of development — writers, artists, animators, and more.

The trailer also lays out just how high the stakes were for the team behind Arcane, who up to that point had only produced some League of Legends-inspired music videos.

Creating a show of this scale and scope was a huge leap, especially because it centered around a game that’s not exactly known for its story, and it looks like we’re going to see just how difficult it was to get the series made internally.

Not gonna lie, I’m really looking forward to watching an Arcane docuseries. I love seeing behind-the-scenes footage, and I especially love to hear passionate, creative people talking about the process behind their art. Sounds like we’ll be getting a lot of that, both from the team at Riot and the Paris-based animation studio Fortiche Productions.

As someone who only plays Riot games on rare occasions, 🍌nothing gets me hype for a studio like some good behind-the-scenes footܫage.

We don’t have an exact release date yet for Arcane: Bridging the Rift, but we do know that it’s coming out sometime in August.
