Finding all the Deviants or, called by their proper name, Deviations in Once Human can be a daunting task. There ar??e many different kinds and with The Way of Winter and Prismverses ??Clash, they're even spread across different scenarios as well.

But have no fear, for I've personally scoured Nalcott to find all of the Deviations and even made notes. Here are all the Deviations in Once Human and where to find them.

Table of Contents

Types of Deviations in Once Human

Before we get into the list, let's go over the three types of Deviations you'll find in Once Human. Territory Deviations will mill about your property, buffing facilities or defending from invaders. Combat Deviations will accompany you around the world of Nalcott and help you fight off enemies. Crafting Deviations will unlock ne??w crafting recipes and produce the ??materials needed to make these recipes.

There is one Deviation (so far) that? is the exception, and that's Gazocchio, which is both a Territory and a Crafting Deviation, so you'll find it in both spots in the table below.

We'll ignore the quests where you can get these Deviations because who has time for level 1 comp?anio??ns? No, we're looking to get level 5 ones! (They are more likely to drop from Hard mode or Pro mode in Rift Spaces or Silos.)

In Once Human, Acid is an important resource as it is used in a lot of crafting recipes and one of the more predominant materials involved in crafting specialty Ammunition that can deal with end-game bosses. We've put together the best Once Human Acid Farms so you can get as much of it as you may need for c??rafting.

How to farm Acid in Once Human

There are multiple ways to farm acid in Once Human, both actively and passively. As you might expect, active farms will get you acid faster, but won't be as effec?tive in the long run. Passive methods will be slower, but will add up quickly and could get you all the Acid you could ever need.

So let's take a look at all the ways you can fa?rm Acid, starting with the active methods.

The best active Acid farms in Once Human

Method 1: Refineries

Usi?ng this method, you could collect upwards of 1,000 Acid per hour, but it is a bit ?of a grind. This method involves using one of the game's many refineries. The first thing to do if you're going to grind refineries is to make Deviated Chops, which helps boost the Acid drop rate.

Screenshot by Destructoid

You can craft Preserved Deviated Chops at an Electri??c Stove or Kitchen Set, and you'll need one of any meat, one peppercorn, and two salt.

Now you'll want to find a refinery. My favor??ite one is at the Blackfell Oil Fields, which can be found by looking for the refinery icon, as depicted below.

The Refinery icon highlighted on a map in Once Human.

Walk ?up to the production facilities, interact, choose the card yo?u want, and start the defense. Be warned, however, that the level 45 monsters can be quite challenging.

If you don't have a strong build, ?be sure to enter build mode and block all the entrances before you rush the start of the defense.

In just one run, I managed to g??et over 200 Acid, and an average run takes about 7 minutes in total to complete. This means that you can easily get more than 1,000 Acid per ho??ur, or even per half-hour if you're lucky all while your passive Acid farm is generating even more back at home.

The amount of Acid gained in one Refinery Defense displayed and highlighted in the player's inventory in Once Human.

Keep in mind that the majority of your Acid comes f?rom the mobs you defeat, so be s??ure to pick up all the loot as you go.

Method 2: Deviant Locations (if Refineries are too difficult)

Ashenton in the distance in Once Human, a great spot for Acid Farming.
Screenshot by Destructoid

This method will also start with you making and consuming Deviated Chops. All active Acid farms in Once Human will start with these chops, so ke??ep this?? in mind.

?For this method, you'll need the highest level area that has the Deviant enemy type that you can find. So head to an area like Ashenton in the Way of Winter, or Blackfell in the Manibus scenario, and circle the city, killing all the Deviants you see. Make sure to grab the loot they leave behind, as this is how you'll be gaining Acid.

Both these cities can only be accessed in ?Ph?ase 2, I should add.

But what's better than farming a ton of Acid while fighting Deviants? That's righ??t; you can far??m acid even while you sleep. Let's move on to the passive farming methods.

Best Passive Once Human Acid farms

Method 1: Pollution Zone farm

A Brewing Barrel in Once Human, producing Acid from Impure Acid and Purified Water.
Screenshot by Destructoid

The best Once Human Acid farm involves setting up a passive farm at your ??base that will automatically generate Acid for you to use. Pri??marily using Water Pumps, this passive farm can generate 288 Acid per day for a mere 108 Watts of power.

It's important to note that Acid can only be created in polluted areas, so make sure you are in one when setting up the passive Acid farm. If you see a number fluctuating on your character's back, you are in a polluted area. Here's what you're going to need to build this passive Acid farm in Once Human:

  • 10 Water Pumps
  • 1 Osmosis Water Purifier
  • 1 Fermentation Barrel
  • 108 Watts of Power
  • Build in a Pollution Zone

Build the most advanced generators that you can, with Deviation Energy Generators offering the most power output. If you have a specialization for the other generators, they may prove more efficient. You can unlock these generators in the Logistics branch in your memetic??s screen.

Next, construct your 10 Water Pumps, which are also found under Logistics (in 03) in your Memetics sc??reen. Make sure you raise the elevation using Alt and the scroll wheel when placing the Water Pumps so ??that water can flow downwards to your filters. Each Water Pump you build requires the following materials:

  • 25 Steel Ingot
  • 20 Carbon Fiber Fabric
  • 20 Refined Parts
  • 20 Standard Parts
  • 20 Electronic Accessory
  • 10 Watts of Power

Make sure all the Water Pumps are dumping into Water Storage Containers. From here, connect the other side of the Water Containers to an Osmosis Wate??r Purifier. The Osmosis Water Purifier will convert the Polluted Water into Impure Acid.

You'll have to manually collect the Impure Acid out of the Water Purifier, which you then place into a Brewing Barrel. A completely filled Brewing Barrel will generate 4 Acid every 20 minutes, making this passive base the best Once Human Acid farm!

Method 2: Corrupted plants

Contaminated Aloe Vera in Once Human, used for Acid production.

Within pollution zones, you can find contaminated plants. These can?? also be refined in a Brewing Barrel and be made directly into Acid (without having to go through a Water Purifier). However, to be efficient with this method, you'll need to find seeds and plant these crops.

This means irrigating them, ensuring they have enough light and harvesting and ??replanting them (unless you have a Growshroom). However, this method isn't quite as effective as our first method.

Method 1 remains ??the best passive Acid farm in Once Hu?man.

Method 3: Thermal Towers Acid Farm

Screenshot by Destructoid

The Way of Winter Scenario has given us one more method with which to ?farm Acid by simply building and upgrading a Thermal Tower. You can unlock the Thermal Tower under the Building tab in ??04 in your Memetics Screen. It costs 2000 Energy Links and 7 Ciphers to unlock.

You'll then have to build one on a neighboring plot to your hous??e, and building it will require the following.

  • 35 Aluminium Ingots
  • 50 Steel Ingots
  • 30 Metal Scraps
  • 30 Electronic Parts
  • 10 Storage Batteries

Once done, you'll need to begin upgrading it. The first few tiers won't cost too much and only take five minutes. Once you can build from the second tie??r, Thermostatic Cover, you'll be able to choose Chaosium Chemistry, after which your tower will pr?oduce 50 Acid every day.

That doesn't sound like much, but our level 28 tow?er is producing about double that, somehow. At around 1200 Acid per day, you won't be needing Acid for much?? longer.

If you're confused about where to find Luminaras in Once Human, you're not alone.? As part of the new H37 Nutcracker Event, this mysterious enemy is on our kill list, but with one slight problem this enemy doesn't exist in Once Human.

Well, it doesn't exist by that name, I should say. I??'ve figured it out and I'll help you out, so here's how to find Luminaras in Once Human.

Where to find Luminaras in Once Human

Luminaras can be found in Ashenton. They are Elite enemies that spawn in three different places, so you can knock out your task in one go if you know where to go. The reason we're all struggling to find them is that it's another one of those naming issues in Once Human. ??The enemy you're actually looking for is called a Luna Moth in-game.

The Luminara or Luna Moth enemy in Once Human.

They have a lampshade for a head, and I'm sure you've seen them. They're tricky, with a solid dodge and a pretty powerful homing projectile attack. Unless you're running?? a current-meta Bingo sniper, they've probably given you some trouble.

A?nyway, the quickest way to get to th?em without much fuss is to teleport to the Fire Throat Base Teleportation Tower (make sure you don't accidentally teleport to the Fire Throat Rise tower instead). From here, head northwest and simply glide over the lava flows (be careful, it gets hot here).

A player gliding over lava flows on the way to Ashenton to hunt Luminaras in Once Human.

From here you ca??n hop on your bike and drive into Ashenton from the east (so you're heading west). Once you enter, you'll be pretty close to all three of the spawns, which can be found at the following coordinates:

  • (-6315,4751) look for a run-down house, the Luminara is on the top floor.
  • (-6349,4693) big red building, you should see the Luminara once you head inside.
  • (-6367,4804) broken-down buildings and lava flows in the area, be careful. The Luminara is out in the open.

A map of where to find all the Luminaras in Once Human.

Can't find the Luminaras in Once Human

If you can't find the Luminara, look around a bit, since they tend to be quite mobile. They may have been lured away from their spa?wn by a passing player, but they'll still be close by.

If there are no enemies at all, it's highly likely that someone already defeated all of them. In this case, you'll want to leave the a?rea for 5 minutes, and then return. The enemies should have spawned in and you can tick off this task and get you??r special Nutcrackers (they're pretty cool!).

Visual novels have found a bit of a? home on the Nintendo Switch. The combination of portability and easy pick-up, put-down feel of the Switch goes really well with long, involved, engrossing visual novels. Hence I decided to put together this list of the best visual novels on the Nintendo Switch.

Ever since I got my Switch, I've read a good amount of VNs on it, whether in a hotel bed, on the couch, or on a plane. It helps that the genre has been drawing more attention, with mainstays like Ace Attorney or surprise hits like Paranormasight offering plenty of promise. There's also a lot to sif??t through another reason I threw this list together.

These are 20 fantastic visual novels to try, whether you're a newcomer to the genre, or just looking for something a little different. Of note: I'm trying to keep this list mostly to a traditional VN interpretation. (I brought up "what's a visual novel" in Slack and it started a mild conflict.) So if you're wondering where fantastic games like 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim are, there's a decent chance I excluded them, in the interest of keeping this list narrow and focused. (I do wholeheartedly endorse 13 Sentinels though.)

With that in mind, let's open up the Switch library and talk about visual novels?.

The House in Fata Morgana

Why not start the list off with a heavy hitter? The House in Fata Morgana: Dreams of the Revenants Editio??n brings the 2012 classic to the Nintendo Switch with both the main story and a bevy of ?extra content. After waking up in a strange, eerie mansion, you relive the lives of various people with the assistance of an unnamed maid.

Events will intertwine across history, with lots of intrigue and suspense?. If you like period dramas and/or ghost stories, this will probably be up your alley, as it's also frequently hailed as one of the best visual novels to grace the Switch.

Danganronpa series

Okay, I'm twisting the rules a bit, mostly because many of these series are in collections like the Danganronpa Decadence physical version for Switch (each entry is available individually on the eShop). Each entry in the series centers on some sort of killing game, where the best and brightest students are locked in a location and told they can only leave if they "graduate." ?As in, kill a fellow student and get away with it in the ensuing trial.

Your job is to find the culprit!

Alongside roaming the world and hanging out with characters for social l??inks between murder investigations, there's also a bunch of trials with minigames to help you find the truth. It's a compelling, interestin?g series that pulls a few fantastic left-field twists out.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

The original run of Phoenix Wright games on the Nintendo DS opened me up to this genre in the first place. With the collection on Nintendo Switch, it's easy to play the trilogy of Ace Attorney entries that set the stage f??or many to follow after.

As defense lawyer Phoenix Wright, you have to defend your ??client from going to jail. Individual cases are good fun, but they also wind together throughout the whole trilogy in ways that make this a very, very fun ?read. Absolutely recommended for cautious first-timers looking for a visual novel for their Switch.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles

If you're looking for something that feels more modern, then head back in time for the historical fiction take on Ace Attorney. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles follows Ryunosuke Naruhodo, as he gets swept up in courtroom drama in the late 19th century. This particular version packs the two Great Ace Attorney games together into a duology that is, honestly, still so??me of? my favorite storytelling on the Switch. It's a roller-coaster of ups and downs, with some great sleuthing and deducing, memorable characters, and incredible payoffs in the second game's trials. It's good for newcomers, but an absolute no-brainer if you liked the original Ace Attorney and want some more.

Steins;Gate Elite

Another classic and often-recommended visual novel, Steins;Gate is the story of an amateur scientist who accidentally discovers a method for time manipulation. Obviously, this leads to some complications. Different branches and alterations get messy, and Rintaro Okabe has to try and figure out a? way to fix everything.

The Elite version packs in animations from the also popular anime adaptation, which is good; I really like the art of Steins;Gate, bu??t the last time I went back to it, the? early hours wore on a bit. With a little bit of polish and an ideal form factor, it's much easier to see why this made such an impact.

Paranormasight

As one of my favorite visual novels on the Switch, Paranormasight is a haunting meta-narrative about several people gathered in the Sumida Ward of Tokyo, Japan. They all have reasons for being there, mostly centered around the Rite of Resurrec??tion; a promise that, if they indulge in some cursed entanglements, they can bring someone back to life.

Things don't go so neatly, however. While "horror VN" might lead you to think this is all about the scares (and there are some good ones, to be clear), this is really a good get for those who like the meta-narrative twists of games like NieR: Automata or Undertale. Square Enix's VN is a sleeper gem with some serious legacy behind it.

AI: The Somnium Files / Nirvana Initiative

The Zero Escape series has, sadly, still not made it over to the Nintendo Switch. We do have another series from writer Kotaro Uchikoshi, though: AI: The Somnium Files.

The Somnium Files follows Date, an investigator for a special crime unit that's able to brain-dive into people's memories to elicit information. The first is good, but the follow-up Nirvana Initiative is where I felt the series truly hit its stride.

Shifting the focus to two protagonists, the Nirvana Initiative has a lot of that twisting, winding narrative that makes a visual novel great, plus some genuinely intruiging puzzle room concepts. It's standalone, so you can play Nirvana without ?playing The Somnium Files, but both are certainly worth your time.

Raging Loop

This is a personal favorite of mine, and one I wish got a bit more chatter, so here we are. Raging Loop sees protagonist Haruaki Fusaishi stuck? on the road, leading him to wander into a remote village in ??rural Japan, Yasumizu.

Here he befriends some locals and gets ready to head back out on his way, when oh no, the mis??t rolls in, and now he's wrapped up in a yearly ritual of the feast, where a villager becomes the embodiment of a death god and kills another ea?ch night until they're found.

Yes, it's a game of Werewolf. But it's a surprisingly well-told story around this classic set-up. A few weird tone issues aside, this is definitely ?one to look into f??or some further reading.

VA-11 Hall-A

What more do you need to know about VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action than a title and screenshot could suggest? It's a visual novel-meets-ba????rtender sim, with an instantly recognizable look.

It's got a UI that would feel at home on the PC-98. It packs in heavy anime inspiration, alongside a plethora of goofs and gags. It's got some heart, too. And an abs??olutely solid soundtrack, to boot. Do you want to serve drinks in a cyberpunk future to a bunch of anime girls?

This is the game you want to play. For more like it, check out the less alcohol-infused Coffee Talk.

The Silver Case 2425

While you might know Goichi Suda for his work on killer7 or No More Heroes, there was a point-and-click adventure that came before it all. The Silver Case 2425 is a collection of The Silver Case series, which combines ?all the disparate and strange elements you'd be looking for in a Suda ??game. You'll follow three perspectives to track down the truth behind a series of supposed suicides.

Like the other murder mysteries on here, there are plenty of twists and turns to uncover. But the reason to pick up The Silver Case is not just the story alone, but the vibes. It's got a style and aesthetic that keeps fresh as the story goes along, where I never really felt like I was just reading text, but also taking in an over-stimulus of visuals i??n the best way.

That's what makes it one of the ?top novels on the Switch.

Famicom Detective Club

This collection of two Famicom Detective Club games is a bit o??????????????????????????f a historical pick, if nothing else. Nintendo's remakes of the original Famicom mysteries?? are absolutely gorgeous, paying homage to a series that carved the path for many to follow.

It's a two-pack, with The Missing Heir following a rich family's tragedy and The Girl Who Stands Behind digging into the supernatural horror elements. Two distinctly different flavors, but it's a really neat way to see how the medium has evolved, and even how old pieces of it still hold ??up today.

Necrobarista

Another personal favorite of mine, Necrobarista dumps you into the Terminal, a hipster coffee bar that also serves as a segue between life and death. For one night, the?? dead are allowed to hang out among the living here, getting some coffee and exploring the meaning of it all.

It's not just the emotional story that really caught me, but the way it's told. Route 59's ??approach takes as much from film and anime as it does from visual novels, using text as a visual and framing the camera as conversations bounce around.

It's?? stylish, memorable, and might even make you tear up a bit. Definitely worthy of it's status as one of the Switch's top visual novels.

Collar X Malice

For this Switch visual novel list, I knew I would need to include at least one otome game. For those who don't know, that's a genre that's generally focused on dating cute anime boys. I am, admittedly, not a knowledgeable connoisseur of these games, so I turned to the internet's experts for guidance, and one game kept popping up: Collar x Malice.

You play as a young police officer who, after an attack, has a venomous collar attached to their neck. Your best chances,? it seems, rest with five different hot cops who can help you figure out what's happening.

I know this list has been a b?it cri??me-and-mystery heavy, but I like the premise here, and the art looks great too. This seems like an obvious get if you're into the boy-dating subgenre with a solid narrative hook.

CLANNAD

I was honestly a bit torn on this one, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention CLANNAD. It's arguably one of the most recognizable stories from developer Key, following third-year high school student Okazaki ?Tomoya, de??aling with the direction his life has taken, and meeting a variety of anime girls along the way.

It's a love story, but with a lot of heart, and everyone who's made it to the? end usually has good things to say about it. I have not, as the writi??ng has always just worn on me.

You can't ignore CLANNAD's historical importance though, and I think if you want an easy-going, slice-of-life story with some gut-punches as it goes further in, CLANNAD and its side stories may be worth your time investment.

Witch on the Holy Night

Speaking of genre pillars, writer Kinoko Nasu's Fate, Tsukihime, and other related works are absolutely massive. These works, undoubtedly brilliant, have given rise to plenty of spin-offs and related games.

One of these, and one deserving of its place as a fantastic Switch visual novel, is Witch on the Holy Night. The well-received story that takes place within the broader Nasu-verse. I'm only a little ways in at the time of writing,?? but so far, it has everything you'd want from this particular subset; absolutely gorgeous visuals and lots of magical fighting.

Witch on the Holy Night is solid on?? art alone, but the writing also l??ooks to put it as a solid recommendation for anyone wanting a little more action in their Switch visual novels.

If Found

For the (literally) more Annapurna take on the genre, let's turn to If Found. This tale follows two stories. In one, astronaut-scientist Cassiopeia h??eads to Planet X, only to find a black hole that will soon destroy Earth. Back on Earth in the journal portion, we follow Kasio, a transgender woman who's just finished her Master's degree and is headed back home to Achill Island, Ireland.

It's not an emotionally easy read, as it's got some real heart-rending moments and a tense final act, along with lots of family drama. But if you're down to explore that narrative territory, I think you'll find something quite special in the pages of If Found.

Gnosia

Okay, this is where I twist my rules a bit. Gnosia is, arguably, more of a??n RPG or management game than a "proper" visual novel. But after some internal discussion, we felt it passed the VN vibe check. And also, it's a particular favorite of mine.

Gnosia is, like Raging Loop, framed around a Werewolf-style social deduction game. But rat?her than a narrative framing for a traditional VN-style story, it plays out in story segments, as you literally fight debate battles each day to determ?ine who is the intruding Gnosia on board the ship.

From gorgeous art to an underrated soundtrack, to some highly memorable characters that endear themselves to you through text and their individual debate quirks, this ??is one for folks who want a ??heavier helping of buttons to push and game to play amid their visual novel reading.

Doki Doki Literature Club Plus

Okay, I know at least a few people scrolled pretty far down this list wondering, "where's DDLC?" Yes, Doki Doki Literature Club is on here. Yes, it's worth reading. It's got some neat ??twist??s and feels like a good representation of what the medium can do with its framing devices.

It's also neat that this visual novel got put on Switch and other consoles, considering all the hijinks happening that, to me, felt best suited to PC. That said, there are caveats. I do think Doki Doki Literature Club relies heavily on its surprises, so don't read up too much on it, unless you feel you need a content warn?ing; in that case, please do look for that? online.

I also wouldn't recommend anyone play this as their first VN. That's just my personal recommendation, but I definitely thin?k it's better to have some familiarity with the format going in.

We Know The Devil

Three teens named Neptune, Jupiter, and Venus are at summer camp, and they have one task left ahead of them. They have to spend 12 h??ours in a cabin in the woods, waiting for the devil. Will they live or die? Well, that might just depend on what you do.

We Know The Devil is a short, interesting game that could probably fill just one evening, but leave you thinking about it for a while. It's also priced at $6.66. Very good. Sadly, Pillow Fight and Worst Girls Games' also excellent VN Heaven Will Be Mine is not ??on Switch, but do seek it out if you enjoy this eerie night in the woods.

Perfect Gold

Let's close the list of Nintendo Switch visual novels off with a selection from our own Zoey Handley. This romance ?VN is ??all about two people falling in love while figuring themselves out, and while it's not heavily choice-driven, it does have multiple endings.

This story about two mages learning their crafts, while also sneaking out of detention to attend the local Sunflower Festival, seems like a good time for those who want a little love in their virtual li??fe.

And that's where this list o??f the best visual novels you can find on the Switch. There are many more to choose from, and some I wish I could've included on this list, so don't let your v??isual novel journey end here.

C?onsider this your introduction, and the rest ??is up to you!

The Zone of Haze is the Way of Winter's equivalent to Lea Labs in the Manibus scenario in Once Human, and it's every bit as tough during the final phase of the dungeon. Hence, preparation is needed, so here's how to clear the Zone of Haze —or Black Sectorin Once Human.

And good luck!

Preparing for the Black Sector

Be??fore we start preparing for this tough new challenge, you'll need to have a full T5 gear set, fully calibrated, if you're going to add much value to a team or attempt this dungeon solo. So assuming you have that, here's what else you need to take on the Zone of Haze.

I recommend preparing three whim potions, namely The Weaver; Chlor??o Armor (Also known as Living Armor), and Utter Delight. Utter Delight will give the other two a great duration boost, while Chrolo Armor will give you an extra life (in simple terms), and The Weaver will drop spiderwebs on the floor when you dodge, entangling your foes in the sticky mess.

The three whim potions that are recommended for the Zone of Haze in Once Human.

You can get the recipes and mat?erials for these whims by placing ?certain Deviations in Securement Units in your base. The Deviations you'll need are as follows.

  • Disco Ball (for Utter Delight)
  • Dreamcatcher (for The Weaver)
  • Harveseed (for Chloro Armor)

The three deviations where players can get the recommended Deviations for the whim potions for the Zone of Haze.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Another great item to take along is All Purpose Hands, which repairs your most damaged piece of gear instantly. For th?is tool, you'll need an Artisan's Touch Deviation, which can ea??sily be found by defeating Elite Enemies in Ashenton.

Finally, craft yourself plenty of high-quality ??ammo. There are a lot of bullet sponges in this dungeon.

How to clear part one of the Zone of Haze

The first part introduces you to the core mechanic, which is destroying symbols on giant discs in a certain order. The order is ?very easy to get right, you just have to look at the number of glow dots on the pillar. Symbols on a pillar with one dot must be destroyed first, and those w??ith four are destroyed last.

The pillars in the Zone of Haze in Once Human highlighted by an arrow for reader reference on the mechanics of the dungeon.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once you leave this first puzzle, the edges of your screen will turn black (looks a bit like black ooze). This means you're in darkness, and the red icon at the bottom of your screen?? will ?shortly appear and begin to build up stacks.

If you don't find light (which can be found around pillars), you'll start to take significant damage over time. Once you start taking damage, yo?u only have seconds left to live, so I highly recommend ignoring the mobs and sprinting straight for the next spot of light before en?gaging enemies.

The darkness mechanic in the Zone of Haze in Once Human explained with an arrow.

Finally, you'll reach a room with three pillars. These are a little different since they have no symbols above them. Start fighting the mobs in this room and Rainfall Reapers will begin to spawn. Once defeated, they'll drop? an orb of light which you'll have to pick up and t??hrow at one of the pillars.

Once all three pillars are lit up, defe??at any remaining enemies and then take a close look at the pillars. Note down which s?ymbol is first, second, and third, and destroy the symbols on the giant disk in that order.

Congratulations, ?but w?e're also just getting started.

How to clear part two of The Zone of Haze

The next section of the Black Sector is quite straightforward. Just follow the path to the first proper boss room. You can even choose to ignor?e the enemies and run straight past them, but if you kill anything here, I recommend taking care of the mirror enemy.

It can deal a fair amount of damage, so just burst it down and then hide behind the corner ??for a few seconds (be sure to take care of the spiders, too). Take a shot at the mirror enemy every now and then until it takes damage again after its brief immunity, and you'll be able to finish the job.

You'll reach the boss room, where a powered-up Scorcher awaits you. This can be quite a tough battle since i?ts attacks deal tons of damage. Don't get hit by it, and don't step on any of its lava puddles (I think they're lava puddles, anyway!).

Take your time, manage the adds well, and take out the scorcher heads to collect light orbs to activate t??he pillars. There are four total pillar??s in this room.

A player activating a pillar in the Scorcher boss room in Zone of Haze.
Screenshot by Destructoid

After this, you'll need to rotate the giant disc by using the small pedestal in the center of the room. Once you've go??t the order down, rotate the disc and destroy the symbols in the correct order.

Don't just stand idle by the pedestal though, as the scorc?her ?will keep attacking you. Keep moving, and take your time to get the symbols down.

Hereafter, you can finally damage the Scorcher while? tons more ??adds spawn in to harass you. Good luck!

How to clear part three of The Zone of Haze

Phew, t??his is a rough phase! Somewhere ?during this phase, you may need to make use of your All Purpose Hands, so keep an eye on your weapon's durability.

As you follow the path to the final boss room, be su??re to make mental notes of the order of the symbols on the pillars. This doesn't matter if you're playing solo, but as part of a team, you'll need to remember.

As you reach the final boss chamber, there are four high pillars with symbols on top. If they're not the?re, you can just pass them by. If you're playing in a team, you'll need to shoot them in the order indicated by the pillars you passed on the way here.

The pillars before the final boss in the Zone of Haze.
Screenshot by Destructoid

So take care of that and then head into the boss? chamber.

You can start attacking the boss here, and make sure ?to apply good adds management to stop all the little guys from overwhelming you. It's quite similar to Lea Labs kill the adds as soon as possible, and then focus o?n the boss.

Once you've damaged the boss a sufficient amount, fou??r clones will spawn. Each one has a symbol above their head, and their order matches that of the three pillars to be found in this room. The missing symbol will have the glow point of one, so kill that clone first.

At this point, adds management no longer applies, just take down the clones in the correct order as quic??kly as possible, and all the adds will die as you are transpo??rted to the final battle against the boss.

In this room, the four giant discs overhead will spawn symbols after a while. Take these out one ??by one while managing the adds. With each disc you take down, the boss wil??l be vulnerable, but won't be worth attacking until the fourth and final disc is taken care of, because the shield will regenerate with each new disc.

The discs above the boss in the final room of the Zone of Haze.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once all the disc??s are down, the real challenge starts. The boss now has? a new attack at their disposal, which is a randomized lightning strike from above. This attack can be a nightmare to avoid, especially if you're playing with higher ping (like I am).

Just?? try to keep your eyes on the ground during this attack and dodge the red indica??tors as soon as they appear. You don't have much time before the lightning strikes.

You'll also have constantly spawning d??isciples to worry about during this phase, plus the light pillars will cease to function after a while. You'll need to defeat a disciple, grab the light orb they drop, and hit one of the pillars in order to reactivate its light effect or die by the darkness.

A player dies to darkness in the last room of the zone of haze.
Screenshot by Destructoid

This last phase gives you a lot to think about, but don't panic. Just stay slow and steady, do what needs to be done, a??nd you'll clear it in no time.

Good luck.

Platinum Crystals are always a bit of an issue in Once Human, especial??ly towards the start of the season. And with The Way of Winter being a little sparse of great farming spots, like BLackfell on the old map, you might be wondering where to find Platinum Crystals in The Way of Winter.

I've got you covered, with a particula?r spot where you can easily grab 30+ Platinum Crystals in just 20 odd minutes. Let's dive in.

Best Platinum Crystal farm in The Way of Winter

First, you'll need to be in at least Phase 2 for this farm spot to open up for you. You'll want to hea?d for Sunshr?oud Cave, which can be found at the coordinates (-5892,7267) in Ember Strand - Land of Shadows.

There are two nearby towers to choose from, namely the Snakebelly and the Snakeye Pass Teleportation Tower. If you have a little extra time, I recommend going to the Snakeye Pass tower and grabbing a few Storage Crates from Snakeye Lookout on your w?ay to the cave.

For this run, we'll go to the closer of the two towers, however. Head northwest from the tower to find the cave. Make sure to pick up the crates outside before heading into the ??cave through the entrance.

All Crate locations in Sunshroud Cave

As you enter the ca????ve, you'll immediately see two more storage crates. You can't miss them! In the next room, you'll find a whopping three weapon crates, two gear crates, and a storage crate. Be careful though, there's a powerful Elite Enemy that spawns in this room, plus a few ads.

Head to the back of the room and up some stairs to ?enter the ?next area.

The route to the second room in Sunshroud Cave highlighted by an arrow.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Here you'll met with ano??ther large room with plenty of loot. This is also the location of the Mystical?? Crate in case you haven't found it yet.

There are two spots in particular in thi??s room that you'll want t?o go to once you're done looting it. Those are highlighted in the below image.

A giant cavern in Sunshroud Cave, with loot spots for Platinum Crystals highlighted by arrows.
Screenshot by Destructoid

For now, simply circle the room and grab all that you can. Watch out for the enemies though, there are loads in this room. As you reach the ot?her side, you'll find the first of the two places I highlighted in the above image.

Head down this cavern.

Screenshot by Destructoid

In this room, you'll find more enemies and plenty more loot, but ??there's also kind of a secret in this room. If you climb up the buildings that line the southern wall, you'll find an almost invisible ladder which you can climb for two more storage crates (and potentially two more Platinum Crystals!).

A hidden ladder in Sunshroud Cave, leading to two additional storage chests.
Screenshot by Destructoid

With all the loot collected, head to? the second spot, I highlighted, where you'll find a ?ladder next to another storage crate. Climb the ladder to reach the last section of the cave.

Head through the fencing up top for two more storage crates and an Elite Enemy (he's not very strong), and then ??keep heading down the cavern before you. You'll ?run past some Hot Rock Ore, and reach what looks to be an exit from the cave (it is).

There's a ladder here as well to your right. Look past the ??ladder to spo?t one final weapon crate.

Do?? be careful not to fall into the lava. I hear it's bad for your short-term health.

And with that, ??we've reached the end of this little guide. I ended up with a healthy 29 Platinum Crystals after this run, which is actually unlucky. I almost always get thirty-plus. Happy?? Platinum Crystal hunting!

Mod Conversion was welcomed by the community when the Once Human development team launched the feature, however, it's now fair to say that it's an underu??sed route since?? it's quite difficult to understand.

I've figured it out, so here's your comprehensive Mod Conversion guide for Once Human.

How to convert Mods in Once Human

Your first step is to navigate to your mods menu. The fastest way I've found is to simply hit 'K' on your keyboard and then navigate to the mods sub-menu. From here, click on Mod Conversion on the right-hand side of? your screen, and you're ready to start converting.

The Mod Conversion button in the One Human menus, highlighted by an arrow.
Screenshot by Destructoid

The screen you find yourself on here requires a fair amount of expl?anation, so I've labeled the below image with numbers, along with their explanations right below.

A labeled version of the Mod Conversion user interface in Once Human.
Screenshot by Destructoid

  1. Toggle between armor or weapon mods
  2. Toggle between weapon types or gear type
  3. Mod types and their effects
  4. The selected mod to create (hover over this and hit the X key for mod generation rules)
  5. Mod quality chances
  6. Suffix selection
  7. Mods with the same Suffix
  8. Mods with any Suffix

So how this works is you'll first select the mod you want to conv??ert. Choose between a weapon or armor mod, find the mod you want to create, and then double-check to be sur??e you have enough of that type of mod.

If the mod type you want to choose is greyed out, it means you'll need to gather more mods of the same type or Suffix. Keep in mind that you ?can only c?onvert mods that have not been upgraded.

??Finally, choose a Suffix you would prefer. Here are all the Suffixes and what they correlate to:

  • Violent: Crit Dmg
  • Talents: Elemental Dmg
  • Precision: Weakspot Dmg
  • Battlefield: Select attributes that largely influence PvP gameplay
  • Battle: Similar to Battlefield
  • Resonance: In-combat modifiers that can change stats based on events (eg, each instance of Elemental Dmg raises Crit Dmg by 0.6%)
  • Keyword: Mods that include keywords such as Frost Vortex or Power Surge specifically influence stats relating to builds focused on that keyword (eg. Frost Vortex Dmg +)

Once you've selected a Suffix??, you'll notice that the user interface (UI) has updated itself. You?? can now click on the plus under the Conversion Materials section to start selecting mods.

How to choose Mods for Mod Conversion in Once Human

To get the chances of a better quality mod as high as ?possible, select mods ??with good attributes. Pay attention to the "Chance to obtain" section (labeled number five in the image) and how it reacts to the mods you choose.

If I were to choose all low-quality mods, the chances of getting a mod with good attributes greatly diminish. As you can see in the below image, by selecting low-quality mods, the best color attribute I can get is blue, and the??re's a ve??ry real chance I will get white attributes (which we don't want).

An example of a poor Mod Conversion in Once Human.
Screenshot by Destructoid

However, if I c??hoose only mo?ds with high-quality attributes (Epic or Purple is best, then Blue, then Green, then White), then the chances of getting a better mod roll greatly increase.

An example of a good mod covnersion in Once Human.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Now, this should go without saying, but please don't ever create an Eleme?ntal Havoc mod with the Precision attribute! This is for illustration purpo??ses only.

But that's about all you need to know about Mod Conversion in Once Human. I've tested it a bunch, and choosing mods with the same sub-attribute (eg. Weapon Dmg) doesn't seem to increase the chances of it appearing again. The only guaranteed attribute is the Suffix y?ou choose.

So there you have it. The only thing that matters when converting for the perfect mod is the color of your attributes. It's still up to RNG to decide whether you'??ll get that dream mod or not. Good luck!

Automatic parts in Once Human are used for a variety of crafting recipes, most notably they're used for upgrades to the Thermal Tower, a new Wonder in The Way of Winter. I've managed to find and hoard thousands, so here's where to find Automatic Parts in Once Human.

How to get Automatic Parts in Once Human

To get Automatic Pa?rts, you'll need to go out into higher-level areas and collect scraps from enemies, the environment, storage crates, and containers. You will then have to disassemble these scrapes at the Disassembly Bench to actually get the Automatic parts.

Rarely, you can find Autom??atic Parts in the wild, but your primary source will?? be from disassembling scraps.

Where to find Automatic Parts in the Manibus Scenario

If you're still new to the game, or if you just want to replay an older scenario, I've got you covered. You'll find Automatic Parts in the Manibus Scenario in the?? higher-level areas around Red Sands and the Blackheart Region.

You can find a variety of storage chests next to the road in these areas that have the chance to drop scraps that can then be turned into automatic parts, bu????????????????????????????t mostly you'll find them in the following settlements:

Settlement Region Coordinates
Fort Eyrie Red Sands 3290,-2906
Evergreen Red Sands 4342,-2398
73 Source Extraction Point Red Sands 2854,-1774
Forsaken Monolith Red Sands 1998,-1453

White Cliff Blackheart Region 3343,1249

Where to find Automatic Parts in The Way of Winter

In the Way of Winter, you can obtain parts from the Ember Strands Area. We'll handle this region a little differently since there are many smaller settlemen?ts that can be worth explori??ng, while there are only a small handful of larger settlements.

First, here are the large settlements where you can find Automatic Parts in Once Human's The Way of Winter.

Settlement Region Coordinates
Ashenton Ember Strand -6330,4641
Fire Throat Fortress Ember Strand -5210,4299
Fire Throat Ember Strand -4788,4663
Sunshroud Cave Ember Strand -5896,7268

Given that there are so few?? areas for Automatic Parts, here are smaller settleme??nts you may want to visit for even more Automatic Parts.

Settlement Region Coordinates
Ashenton Station Ember Strand -6504,5407
Pyro Harbor Ember Strand -7261,5640
Lightless Port Ember Strand -6225,6479
Snakeye Lookout Ember Strand -6303,7068
Ripe Land Farm Ember Strand -5385,6025

Abandoned Refinery Ember Strand -4133,5300
Serpent's Tail Camp Ember Strand -4559,6284
Snakebelly Cave Ember Strand -4954,7499

And those are all the places you can find Automatic Parts in Once Human, in both the Manibus and W?ay of Winter scenarios.

Along with The Way of Winter, we've received a couple of brand new Silos in Once Human. In this article, I'll ta??ke you through how to complete Securement Silo 08 even solo since it can be a pretty tricky dungeon and there are some new mechanics for us to play wit??h.

Without further?? ado, here's how ?to clear Sercurement Silo 08 in Once Human.

How to prepare for Securement Silo 08

If you're running this silo on Normal Mode, you can enter with pretty much any uncalibrated build? and dominate. However, if you're planning on Hard or Pro mode (the latter available later this week), then you'll need to do some planning.

First, pick a strong build. The M416 Silent Anabasis Frost Vortex build is quite viable given the amount of adds. However, I?'ve personally had more success running an MP7 Power Surge build. But then that's also my main build and I'm used to it, so whatever you used to complete LEA solo should work.

Next, bring plenty of Quick Activators and Adrenaline Shots, because boy, things in this dungeon tend to ??really hurt. If you've already run it a few times, you'll know all about those rocket launcher guys.

How to clear Securement Silo 08

I'm not going to tell you to loot every room, so just... loot every room. There's tons to get in here, so take your time for the first?? ?run of the day and grab everything. With that out of the way, here's what to do.

In the first room, simply head?? up the stairs to your right as you enter the room, then head through the hallway and get ready for a tough fight (especially if yo??u, like me, are running this dungeon with no calibrated gear!).

This room has plenty of enemies, and they do quite a ?bit of damage beyond? Normal Mode, so my strategy is to head to one of the rooms and hide, waiting for enemies to emerge so I can take them out one by one.

Once the enemies stop coming, you can slowly take out the rest of the room. Once you've cleared and looted the room, hea?d to this top landing.

The first painting portal highlighted with an arrow, assisting players to reach the next area of Securement Silo 08 in Once Human.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Here you'll find a large painting on the wall walk through it ??to find the next area.

You'll find a staircase, but it has translucent spots that you fall through if you try to walk over them. You'll also notice a nearby fountain with floating balls nearby. The idea here is to "paint" the stairs with these balls in order to make them solid. There's no need to do this, ??as you can simply jump over the missing spots and continue, but make sure to remember this mechanic for the next room.

The paintballs used to reveal enemies in Securement Silo 08, highlighted by an arrow as the player runs past them.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Be careful with the enemies on the stairs here, since they ca?n one-shot you if you're not careful. Take? them out quickly.

Head up the stairs and grab the med kit, then turn back just slightly and head down the stairs into the next room. Take your time here, there's a translucent El??ite enemy and a powerful Phase enemy in this room.

M??y strategy is to take out all the additional enemies first, then focus on the Elite. If you're not running something like Powersurge, it'll take an eternity to kill the Phase enemy, so do your best to just avoid his attacks.

You can take care of the Elite enemy by getting him to walk over the fountain with the floating paintballs?, or you can grab and throw one of the balls at him.

Once d?one there, you can grab two more storage chests on your way to the next room. Spam your Q key so you don't miss them, they're hidden and you won't see them if you run straight to the next painting, which is also the way to the next section of the dungeon.

A storage crate revealed by Space Time and the painting to the next area in Securement Silo 08
Screenshot by Destructoid

You've reached the penultimate area, and it couldn't be more straightforward from here. Just run down the hallway and take out any enemies that appear (none of them are difficult here). When you get to the next main ?chamber, interact with the blue painting to enter the boss room.

How to defeat the boss in Securement Silo 08

You'll be shot ?at the second you enter this room, so what I do is jump down and take shelter behind the pillars on the left.

From here, you have at least some cover. Take out the adds as quickly as possible. They can burst down your h??ealth in a moment. Once you've taken care of the adds, focus on the boss. If it's translucent, you'll need to hit it with a paintball.

However, it's not necessary here, a??s the boss goes through phases. As soon as it steps on a fountain, you can hit it. You'll need to crush? a shield first though, and on Hard Mode, it's pretty substantial, so I sure hope your build can dish out enough DPS!

One last thing... yo??u might want to deal with the two Vulture Trackers up the stairs to the back of the room. Their attacks not only deal massive damage but also stun you for a moment. Trust me, you don't want those two shooting at you while you're trying to fend off rocket launcher guys and spirit bears and who knows what else!

Now you've just got to wi?n this fight. It's not easy, at least not for me. But if you focus and take shelter any time the adds spawn back in, then take them out first, you'll get the boss down in no time.

Good luck!

We finally have new guns and gear to enjoy in Once Human, but are the new guns any good? One of those is the M416 Silent Anabasis, which is the topic of today's build. We're looking at the best M416 Frost Vortex ??build today, so get ready for some ser??ious AOE damage.

Is the M416 Silent Anabasis Frost Vortex build good?

Screenshot by Destructoid

The Silent Anabasis is a fantastic weapon for clearing our larger groups of enemies fast. Being a Frost Vortex weapon, you can look forward to dealing Status Damage ?to an area, but you'll also have the chance to spawn Ice Crystals that, when shot, deal up to 400% PSI intensity damage.

This means Area of Effect (Ao?E) damage of 15k per crystal with uncalibr?ated gear (at least, that's what I'm getting).

Combine this with an average of thr??ee crystals per mag, and you're looking at some serious damage. It's not? quite as good as Shrapnel or Power Surge for single-target damage, but it's the best AoE damage you can get in the game.

How the Silent Anabasis works in Combat

Attacking normal enemies with the M416 Silent Anabasis in Silo 08 in Once Human.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Your main source of damage with this build will be your Ice Crystals, which is determined by your Elemental Damage. Hitting an enemy trapped in a Frost Vortex will generate an Ice Crystal with a cooldown o??f 1.5 seconds.

Shooting these crystals then deals massive AoE damage. So this is your focus with this build; ge?nerating and popping those Ice Crystals.

Silent Anabasis Frost Vortex loadout

The new Blackstone armor set shows a lot of promise with the new elemental builds, however, getting them to work in neutral zones (such as Silos or boss fights)? would be too much of a pain. During Chaosweaver fights, when the temperature can fluctuate wildly, the additional elemental damage would be great if Chaosweavers weren't i??mmune to Elemental and Status damage.

For this reason, I've decided o?n the following loadout for more consistent damage wherever you go.

Gear Slot Item
Helmet Shelterer Hood
Top Shelterer Jacket
Bottoms Shelterer Pants
Gloves Snow Camo Gloves
Shoes Renegade Shoes
Mask Shelterer Mask

You can create any combination of Shelterer and Renegade, as long as you have four Shelterer pieces, the Snow Camo Gloves, and one piece of Renegade. Optionally, i??f you run a Heavy Calibration on the weapon, one piece of Bastille may be more useful than Renegade.

Silent Anabasis Frost Vortex Weapons and Mods

The M416 Silent Anabasis, used in the Frost Vortex build in The Way of Winter.

Naturally, the gun you'll want to use is the namesake of this post. The M416 can be unlocked at the Wish Machine blueprint shop for 8,000 Starchrom. You can als?o get it from rolling (make a wish) in Phase Four of The Way of Winter.

You'll want to use either a Precision or Heavy calibration for this weapon, and I tend to lean towards Heavy. This will give you more bullets to proc Ice Crystals with, increasing your dama??ge significantly.

As for the mod you'll wa?nt to run, there's only one choice here. The Vortex Multiplier.

This mod gives you an additional Frost Vortex (normally maxed at 2), so you can dea??l even more damage with even more Ice Crystals.

Finally, accessories are a personal choice. Choose what y?ou feel most comfortable with. Accuracy reduces bullet spread, and stability reduces recoil. So if you're comfortable handling h?orizontal recoil, spec into accuracy. Else, I like to make these balanced, aiming for 70+ Stability and Accuracy.

For your support weapon, I've chosen the DE.50 Wildfire. Paired ??with a Spreading Marks mod, this gun can quickly mark the whole room before you cle?ar it all out with the M416.

Finally, the Frozen Northern Pike is your best Melee option, and when paired with the Frosty Blessing mod, can give you a welcome h?ealing option.

Frost Vortex Gear set with Mods

Screenshot by Destructoid

Here's the full gearset I'm using?? to deal over one million in damage during a single Deviation cycle with uncalibrated gear, and my Frost mods haven't even been upgraded? yet.

Gear Slot Mod Mod Location
Helmet Deviation Expert Securement Silo 08
Mask Lingering Frost Securement Silo EX1
Top Flame Resonance or Rejuvenating with Elemental Dmg Securement Silo PSI /
Securement Silo 08
Bottoms Precision Charge Securement Silo PSI
Gloves Elemental Overload Securement Silo Delta
Shoes Covered Advance or Slow and Steady with Elemental Dmg Securement Silo Delta

On? all gear, you'll want to prioritize Elemental Dmg and Status Dmg. However, if you can find the Suffix mods for your weapon and mask, you'll prioritize Frost Vortex Trigger Chance and Frost Vortex Duration. This will greatly increase your damage output.

These mods only drop from High-Risk Public Crisis events and Chao??sweaver World Bosses, however, so they can be a bit of a pain to find.

Best Deviation for Frost Vortex M416 build

We have the fun new Deviation calle?d the Snowsprite, and we're all tempted to use it. It looks so cool! However, the best Deviation for pure damage remains the Polar Jelly.

You can obtain the polar Jelly by fishing near Whalebone or by participating in the Cargo Scramble Public Crisis ?event.

Best Cradle for M416 build

Here's the Cradle I'm currently using with this build:?

  • Anti Void
  • Tactical Combo
  • Status Enhancement
  • Lone Walker or Side-by-Side
  • Sustained Suppression
  • Frost Sense
  • Bounty Hunter
  • Tough Build

The only thing I might consider changing i??s switching Tough Build for Steady Hand. However, Tough Build gives you a nice additional healing option if you (like me) haven't managed to unlock the F??rozen Northern Pike yet.

I just don't like fishing in this ga??me, w??hat can I say?

Damage Testing the M416 Frost Vortex Build

Player testing the M416 Silent Anabasis Frost Vortex build against dummies in Once Human
Screenshot by Destructoid

Now the real question is, is the M416 actually capable of decent damage? Considering that I don't have the Suffix mods we really need, and all my gear is uncalibrated, I still managed to dish out over 30k DPS and ??deal o??ver a million damage in one Deviation cycle.

That's some serious power, and when fully cal??ibrated, I expect this build to be capabl?e of somewhere in the 40-60k DPS range. While other builds like Shrapnel or Fast Gunner are capable of more, they don't deal AoE damage, which this build does.

In the above screenshot, you'll notice the du?mmies on either side of the target are taking stacks o??f damage as well. This brings us to the final point in this build guide.

When to use the Silent Anabasis Frost Vortex build

This build is best used when dealing with large amounts of additional enemies. Running Silos or clearing out densely populated en?emy settlements will be a breeze with this weapon. Its single-point damage isn't fantastic though, and builds like Fast Gunner or Shrapnel will offer far more damage in these fights.

So if you're running Silo's or completing the new LEA (hope you're as excited as I am to see what that looks like), then use it. If you're going up against bosses, I recommend a?? Shrapnel or Fast Gunner build.

It feels like just yesterday when the Manibus Scenario was in full swing and I received reports of the gigantic creature emerging from the skies well ahead of schedule. It turns out that apparently by accident the Manibus was spawning t??oo early.

Well, it may have happened again. I wrote an article on where to find the Snowsprite Deviation and, spoiler alert, the best way to find one is by taking down a Chaosweaver. Now that the article is out there for all to see, including a few of th?e Chaosweaver spawn locations, this gigantic entity has mysteriously vanished from the game.

Now it's up to players and journalists alike to speculate on whether the Chaosweaver has indeed been removed until Phase 2, or whether the spawn time on these beasts is?? just extraordinarily long.

Judging from in-game c??hatter, the Way of Winter scenario?? has been met with a mostly warm reception (get it?). Players seem to be satisfied with the new experience, despite early frustration on learning to deal with the temperature system (it got really cold, really fast).

One of the main complaints currently seems t?o be the lack of good looting spots for tier-thr??ee materials, but with new crops, animals, locations, enemies, and bosses, this is a rather small compromise to make in my humble opinion.

For now, the question remains whether the Chaosweaver spawns will return before Phase Two, which starts on Thursday, 24 October for the first set of Way of Winter servers. The Way of Winter is set to last for 35 days, after which no one is quite sure what's next on the cards for Once Human.

Though more speculation here is that we'll receive hard servers on which to repeat the Way of Winter a second time for boosted rewards, given that it took the developers four months to release a ??new scenario after the start of the first, this is a likely cas?e.

Only time will tell.

The Snowsprite is a powerful new Deviation in The Way of Winter, Once Human's latest scenario. Though it's not straightforward on where to get it. I've heard the rumors but today I've finally confirmed them today. So here's where to find the Snowsprite in Once Human.

Where to find The Snowsprite Deviation in The Way of Winter

The best way to get Snowsprite right now, which I'm aware of, is by defeating the Chaosweaver world boss. Peopl??e have been saying that this is where you'll get the Deviation, and I can finally confirm it thanks to taking down a Chaosweaver myself.

But how do you defeat the Chaosweaver in the first place? I've heard that it has fi?ve million hp, which is a bit much to solo.

How to defeat the Chaosweaver world boss

Screenshot by Destructoid

The Chaosweaver is an interesting boss. His weak spot keeps changing as the fight carries on. His first weak spot is?? the hand that holds the saw blades.

A player attacking the Chaosweaver's arm, the only spot to damage him at the start of the fight.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once this arm is destroyed, the subsequent weak spo??ts will glow, showing players where to attack it. However, you don't actually deal weak spot damage to these points, so bringing your ??Weakspot Dmg Fast Gunner build is pointless.

I recommend a high weapon-damage build, such as Shr??apnel or Fast Gunner (Crit), in?? order to take down the Chaosweaver as quickly as possible. It's immune to all status damage, so leave your Frost, Power Surge, and Burn builds at home.

When do you get the Snowsprite?

Once the Chaosweaver's health dips to around 30 percent, he'll just leave thro??ugh t?he clouds. I found this pretty funny, but maybe that's just me.

He leaves behind a loot chest of the kind you'll f?ind in Securement Silos and Rift Spaces, however, and h??ere's where you can claim your Snowsprite plus some other goodies as well if you use a controller.

Where to find the Chaosweaver

Two known spawn locations of the Chaos Weaver in Once Human marked on a map.
Screenshot by Destructoid

On the above map, I've marked two locations where the Chaosweaver spawns. However, there are plenty of others as well. You'll like?ly run into one?? as you complete your area explorations or simply explore the map.

Alternate way to get the Snowsprite

Since the Chaosweaver has been removed from Phase one of The Way of Winter, you might need to get Snowsprite in another way. However, you'll only be able to obtain a l??evel one deviation using this method.

Simply seek out Lowe in Ice House Camp (33?68,6181) and follow the quest line that he gives you. After securin??g a Digby Boy, you'll be able to go after the Snowsprite. Once you get the Task "Deviation: Snowsprite" you're in business.

Hit the J key and click on Track Task, since thi??s will make it easier to follow the quest line. You'll need to speak to Ridley, then head to the Moose City Food Factory, where you'll need to follow the prompts. Make sure you bring five Molotovs along since?? you'll need them to melt some ice.

Once you finish ?the quest, you'll be able to secure a lev??el one Snowsprite.

The Invincible Sun is one of seven new Deviations added to Once Human's latest scenario, The Way of Winter. It's a great fit for Burn builds, so you might wonder where to get? the Invincible Sun. It's not all that difficult let's explore.

Where does the Invincible Sun Deviation drop in Once Human?

You can find the Invincible Sun by clearing Securement Silo Delta, which can be found in the Onyx Tundra at coo?rdinates (5171,4191). It's only a level ten dungeon, but you'll be able to get a level one Invincible Sun upon completing it for the first time.

The location of Securement Silo Delta highlighted on a map in Once Human, showing where the player can obtain an Invincible Sun Deviation.
Screenshot by Destructoid

The dungeon itsel??f is quite easy to complete, and the only potential hiccup is the last room, where you're asked to investigate the source of the anomaly. All you need to do? here is stand on the stage and wait a few moments.

You'll be teleported?? to the boss arena, where you can quickly melt him down, even with Tier I weapons and armor.

Is Securement Silo Delta still bugged?

You may ha?ve heard that Silo Delta was bugged and that people couldn't get past the wall of fire. Thankfully, the developers have taken speedy action and fixed that bit in the Silo, so you can now use the switch beside the firewall to turn it off.

This means it's now possible to complete De??lta and claim your Invincible Sun. However, if you are running Burn, you might want to wait until the Hard dungeons open up before you switch away from your Pyro Dyno. It's easier to get higher-level Deviations in Hard an??d Pro Mode.

You can still get a level f??ive from Normal Mode, but it's exceedingly rare.

The Invincible Sun works kind of like the Polar Jelly, and you can throw it at enemies to inflict Blast Dmg and it also has the chance to inflict Burn on e??nemies, dealing Status Dmg over time.

One of the new items in Once Human, Leftover, can be a little confusing due to the in-game description. You cannot get this item as a by-product of any kind of production, though it is very easy to make. So here's how to get Leftovers in Once Human.

How to get Leftovers in Once Human

You can find Le??ftovers in hostile settlements, but I definitely don't recommend farming it like that. The most efficient way? to get them is by hunting animals any will do.

Near t??he starting town of Whalebone is a great hunting ground filled with Reindeer, Buffalo (really more of a Bison), and even Pigs. Take down whatever you wish, and make sure to skin the animal to acquire their hide.

Once you've got a decent amount of hide, open your Memetics screen and look for "Leatherworking" in the Crafting Memetics Menu (it's right at the top). Make s??ure you also unlock Essential Tools, which is right beside it.

Now, simply build a supplies bench of any level. Interact? with it to start crafting, and you'll find the Leftovers item in the menu.

An??d that's all there is to it. I told you it was easy you should now be able to make all the leftovers you need, but repairing your gear does use a lot. Be prepared to top up on Leftovers often.

I don't know about you, but I've frozen to death a few times already in Once Human, and the game doesn't make it simple to figure out how to survive the cold. Luckily, I've finally figured it out and can tell you exactly how to increase your cold resistance in Once Human.

How to increase cold resistance with food in Once Human

A Spikemato, visible in the player's inventory, that helps with cold resistance in Once Human The Way of Winter.
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are a few ways to increa??se your cold resistance, and the first is quite simple: food. There are various new crops in the game that raise your resistance against cold (and heat, t??oo). The crops available in the starting area include:

  • Spikemato
  • Sunny Ginger
  • Polar Pepper

Eating any ??of the above crops will grant you +5 cold resistance. This means that your character can withstand colder temperatures without getting hypothermia. You can see how much cold resistance ?on the meter just below your mini-map.

The temperature resistance meter in Once Human, visible below the mini-map in The Way of Winter.
Screenshot by Destructoid

The blue portion indicates when you'll start to freeze and it g?ets smaller the higher your cold?? resistance is. The same applies to the red bar and heat resistance.

How to increase cold resistance with tools in Once Human

The next way to increase cold resistance is by using various tools. The two main items that buff your temperatur??e resistance are Heatiu?m or Coldium and the Chaosium Lantern. Yeah, the naming department clearly wanted to keep it simple!

Heatium raises yo?ur cold resistance by 10, and it requires Thermoium and coal or H??ot Rock Ore.

Heatium in the Supplies Bench crafting menu, helpful for increasing cold resistance.
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can unlock the Thermoium and Heatium recipes by researching Polar Expedition I, which can be found under the Infrastructure tab of your Memetic menu. You'll need to work fast once you've crafted Heatium, however, as it only lasts for 60?? minutes. The Chaosium Lantern works even better, but it requires Chaosium to function.

The Chaosium Lantern that helps players with cold resistance, displayed in the supplies crafting bench in Once Human.
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Lante?rn is great since it can raise or lower your body temperature depending on the environment. However, it eats Chaosium fast, so you'll have to get loads of the stuff.

You can get Chasium by looting Vulture enemies or ?by crafting it at a furnace if you've unlocked the Chaosium Extraction memetic, also found under Infrastructure. Polar Expedition II, just below it, will unlock th??e Chasoium Lantern.

How to increase cold resistance with gear in Once Human

The final and arguably the most reliable way to increase cold resistance in The Way of Winter is by crafting gear with special skins. In the Arm?or Crafting menu at your Gear Be?nch, you can choose from a variety of skins.

A player crafts gear at the workbench, with cold resistance highlighted by an arrow in Once Human.
Screenshot by Destructoid

What you choose will infl??uence what sort of resistance your clothing has. Your top and pants offer cold or heat resistance, so pay special attention to these. Different skins will offer different levels of resistance.

Tips for exploring colder areas in Once Human

During the early stages of The Way of Winte?r, I've found it difficult to go to the coldest areas open to us right now. What has worked for me, however, is when combining several of the above. Since Chaosium is still quite hard to come by, I tend to use a Heatium and keep a stack of food on me. On my armor, I'm using the deer hi??des (any variation will do), at least until I can find the natural habitat of the Mountain Cow Hide.

That just about covers everything about increasing your cold resistance in Once Human. Good luck surviving the cold, friends!

The Way of Winter, Once Human's most recent content update, has brought us new Securement Silos a welcome relief from the dull grind of previous scenarios. Securement Silo EX?1 might have the same name, but it's a bit different.

Here's how to complete Securement Silo EX1 in The Wa?y of Winter.

How to clear Securement Silo EX1

Starting out, you'll notice that instead of Deviant??s, we have Rosetta soldiers to fight. While this is an obvious difference, the rest remains the same. T?his does make it feel like the events we're experiencing now are before the events in the Manibus scenario. (There's time travel, too?)

Anyway, head to the elevator and head down into th??e ??cells of EX1.

The elevator needed to progress to the next stage in Securement Silo EX1 in The Way of Winter.

You'll enter the same room with all the enemies as before, but this t??ime it's filled with Rosetta, including a Rosetta Mechanic. Clear out the room and pick up the Rosetta Mechanic's loot, which is a V3 Access Card. As you enter the room, there's a set of double doors to your immediate left collect the loot in there first.

Now you have two options, you can e??ither take the shortcut or go down the stairs. The shortcu?t is in the first room to your right as you enter the room, but you'll need a grenade or Unstable Bomber to open the way.

The shortcut in Securement Silo EX1 highlighted by an arrow.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Otherwise, you can head to the far side of the room to exit with the V3 Access Ca?rd you picked up. It doesn't make much of a difference which way you go. If you don't take the shortcut, remember to collect the loot hidden behind cell A009 on the bottom floor.

The player faces cell A009 which contains hidden loot in securement silo EX1.

Now head throug??h the hallway on the western edge of the top floor (same route as in the last scenario) to find the next room.

In this room, you'll notice that the portal isn't where it used to be. It's hidden behind the locked cell door of B023, ??so you'll need to find the switch on the top floor and open all the cells to go through the portal.

The switch that opens cell doors in EX1, highlighted by an arrow.

You'll find yourself in the old boss room, but you can't attack?? the boss this time. Instead, you'll need to defeat the enemies ??here and also find a switch on both the top and bottom floors to open all of the cell doors.

You can get some more loot here, a??s well, hidden behind the double doors on the bottom floor.

An arrow points out a loot room in Securement Silo EX1 in The Way of Winter.

Once you've activated both switches, the cell doors will open and you'll find a portal in a cell on the bottom floor near the loot room. Hea?d inside to find the boss room, which is the red-light room from the old EX1.

Getting caught by the red light here will cause you to take damage, so?? keep your health topped up for this fight. I recommend? taking a Festering Gel as your Deviation, since it'll help you survive this room more easily.

And that's really all there is to it.

Wish? Land is one of the most complex explorations in Once Human, with two huge areas and a confusing Deviation quest thrown into the mix. But fear not, for I've completed both of the areas, so here's how to complete Wish Land East and West, and the Deviat??ion quest.

Our first stop is Wishland West.

Where is the Mystical Crate at Wishland West?

The Mystical crate can be tricky to find, given how confusing this spot is. You'll find the mystica??l crate ?in the mansion at the top of the amusement park, but it's no easy feat to find, so here's a step-by-step on how to navigate there.

The Mystical Crate at Wish Land west in Once Human

Your first ??task is to locate the giant octopus head in Wish Land. Its mouth is the entrance you need, so take a look around and then make your way up there.

The room you enter, as you pass through its mouth, is also where you'll need to complete Lowe's Devia??tion?? quest to get the Gazocchio, but we'll cover that in the next section.

In this room, look out for the ice cream stand. You'll want to get up there and go down the tunnel just to the right o??f it.

Head through the tunnel and out the back of the building, where you'll? see a rollercoaster track. Th??e way to the Mystical Crate is to climb this track up and to the left. Don't fall off!

Once you're up on the top platform, you're almost home-free. Just run straight to the bui??lding in front of you and then climb the stairs to the very ??top.

You'll enter a ??large room with plenty of enemies. They're the Dusken kind, so you won't be able to dama?ge them (even if you get the lights on, it may be bugged at this stage).

The chest is on the top floor of th??is room, on the opposite side from which you entered, so try to avoid the enemies and ?grab the chest. Don't take these enemies lightly. Their combined attacks will drain your health in a second.

How to get Gazocchio at Wishland in Once Human

This is kind of?? an annoying quest, but once you understand what's required of you, it's not so difficult. All you have to do is find the Gazocchio three times, and you can claim this Deviation for yourself.

After you enter the octopus mouth,? you'll need to climb this ladder. As you reach the top, you'll find Gazocchio for the first time within the ro?om.

His next hiding spot is on the platform near the roller coaster starting point. You'll need to approach him from the st??airs to get this event to trigger.

Gazo?cchio's final hiding spot is easy enough to find. Simply head to the eastern edge of the room and exit down the stairs to find his final hiding spot. At this point, you can secure him and get him back to your base.

Where is the Mystical Crate at Wish Land East?

Wi??sh Land East is, obviously, just a little bit East of Wish Land West. Thankfully, it's fairly straightforward to find the Mystical Crate here. Your first step is to look for the castle and enter it.?

Take a left once you're inside and head up the stairs. You'll find another set of stairs leading up t?o the roof. Take those as?? well.

Once you ??reach the top, the Mystical Crate will be easy to spot. It's?? on the lower part of the roof, just out in the open.

And that's all there is to. Those are the Mystical Crate locations (to be fair, they can be quite hard to find) and the Ga??zocchio Deviation quest.

Once Human has been through a bit of a rough patch with the recent Prismverse's Clash which had some issu?es, but a solid Dev Stream and the imminent arrival of The Way of Winter have players excited again. There are various changes coming, but arguably the most exciting of them all (except for the actual new scenario) is the huge change to Mod farming.

When I switched to Power Su?rge from Shrapnel I can't tell you how many times I had to defeat the Treant on Pro Mode to get the Mods I needed. I was o??nly after Power Surge Mods, and instead, all I got were Frost Vortex Mods (not all bad, since I'll be using Frost Vortex and Burn next season!).

Well, never again will we have to grind through getting the wrong mods constantly. Once Update 1.3 arrives, we'll actually be able to choose which type of Mods we want post-battle. The sub-stats (or attributes) will still be random, but at least we'll be able to get the right kind of mods, every time.

However, you will need to use a Controller to?? make this c??hoice.

Other notable changes from the Once Human 1.3 Patch No??tes include fixing an issue that was potentially causing server instability and lag, seven new Deviations, five new weapons, two new gear sets (and key gear blueprints), and of course a brand new adventur?e through fire and ice.

The new scenario in Once Human drops on 17 October (this Thursday!), and is set to take place over 35 days across five phases of increasing survival difficulty. Interesting new mechanics include the cooperative building of thermal towers to keep the bite of winter o??ut, new dungeons, and even a new rift space featuring an enemy only found in Prime Wars before.

We'll be able to work together as one big server again in this new PvE scenario, which sounds incredibly excitin?g!

To read the full patch notes, check out Once Human's official Steam page.

The Prismverse's Clash in Once Human has not been well-received by PvE players, and most PvP players agreed that Evolution's call was better. Severe lag, major balancing issues, an??d poorly executed mechanics made it difficult to enjoy P??rismverse.

Still, The Way of Winter is well on its w??ay, pro?mising a better experience for PvE players. Here's everything we know so far, including how the scenario will work, and the new gear we'll have at our disposal.

The Way of Winter has an all-new map

The first thing to note about the new Once Human scenario is that we're getting a completely new map. We won't be able to ac?cess parts of the old map. Currently, it's unclear whether we'll be able to access dungeons such as the old Securement Silos or LEA Labs.

We also don't know w??hether we'll be able to face off against the same bosses within Rift Spaces, but all of this will be revealed in time. The Way of Winter launches on 17 Octo??ber.

Hives expanded due to the "difficulty of this scenario"

According to the latest Dev Stream 1.3, hives have been expanded to 16 players to help us cope with the difficulty of this scenario. The survi??val challenge is intended to be more difficult in this new scenario, according to the Global Community Manager, Sammy.

This initially sounds exciting, but after having been disappointed by Hard Mode and High-Risk Public Crisis Events, I remain skeptical. Once Human has failed to be challenging since those ?first initial stages when ?we didn't yet know what builds were viable, or where to get food.

Dying is not punished at all in the game, and until some sort of penalty system gets added to the game, ??players won't fear dying at all. It's just a minor inconvenience at this point.

You will have to deal with temperature challenges

We've known about the temperature mechanism for a while, but it's now confirmed. In The Way of Winter, your character will get cold or hot depending on the environment. So how will you manage you??r body temperature?

There are various ways, and the first of these is a new memetics system. It's unclear whether the temperature buff memetics are found in the regular menu or within memetic specializations at th?is point.

Another way to regulate body heat is through various crops that we'll be able to find in the world. W??e'll also be able to craft torches, as well as build campfires to help us stay warm.

The final way is to build something called a Thermal Tower, wh??ich can also be unlocked via Memetics. The mechanics surrounding these towers are vast, and so it deserves its own section.

How do Thermal Towers work in The Way of Winter?

The new Thermal Tower in the Once Human Scenario The Way of Winter, captured during the 1.3 Dev Stream.
Image via Once Human official YouTube

Thermal towers, first and foremost, will allow players to control the temperatu??re in a region. They will need to be built collaboratively, so teamwork is essential in this scenario.

Thermal towers will also be able to generate oil fields, influence crop mutation rates and yields, and ?more. However, these towers will also be attacked by powerful enemies and players will need to work together to defend the towers to keep their region heated.

It sounds like they're really leaning into the social aspect of the game, and as someone who has grown to like the Once Human community? a great deal, I think this is a great mov?e!

All-new Securement Silos for The Way of Winter

The new Securement Silo boss in The Way of Winter, the new Once Human scenario, captured during the 1.3 Dev Stream.
Image via Once Human official YouTube

We'll have two new Securement Silos to play ?through as well, with a vastly different feel from previous Silos. With the previous batch, all of these dungeons felt slightly similar (at least to me). These two new Silos look different from what has come before, and they're also quite different from each other.

W?e'll get new bosses to face, as well. This is a welcome change since I really wanted to see some new dungeons along with the new scenario. The Vultures also seem to play a bigger role in these Silos and in the scenari?o in general.

New Deviations in The Way of Winter

There are seven n??ew Deviations in The Way of Winter, which we'll be able to capture and use within the scenario. None of these new Deviations seem to be simple reskins, like we got in the Prismverse's Clash, so these are all new.

There isn't a great amount of informa?tion about these Deviations, except that the fi??rst of these which looks like the Riddle Camera from the first scenario takes pictures of enemies, causing them to take more damage.

New Gear in the Way of Winter

The new Frost Vortex rifle and Burn shotgun in The Way of Winter in Once Human, captured during the 1.3 Dev Stream.
Image via Once Human official YouTube

We'll get at least two new weapons, including a Frost assault rifle and a Burn shotgun. The new rifle gen??erates ice crystals, which can then be shot at to deal additional damage to nearby enemies. It appears to be a great weapon for crowd control.

We'll also get ??an all-new armor set that helps to increase resistance to temperature fluctuations, among other ?things.

Other than this, I won't go into too much detail, since the weapon effects are subject to change based on final testing, and we'll just have t?o wait until Thursday to see what we actually get.

Dev stream 1.3 codes for Once Human

To claim 1000 free Starchrom, make sure to redeem the following codes they are valid until 11 N??ovember.

  • ONCEHUMAN1010
  • JTA6DXDRYR

The Way of Winter is sure to bring a lot of players back to Once Human, and I personally can't wait for the scenario to start. As soon as I know more, I'll be bringing you build guides, location guides, tips, and hints to help you in the snow (and volcano??es), so stay tuned!

Also, remember to activate your reminder so that you get to claim your free cosmetic hat when The Way of Winter arrives.

Once Human has see??n a massive drop in its player base since its launch, but I expect we'll see a decent resurgence once The Way of Winter launches on October 17, 2024. Speaking of the Way of Winter, you can claim a free cosmetic hat if you log into the game and turn your scenario reminder on. Here's how.

How to claim your free cosmetic hat in Once Human

All you have to do is follow the prompts. Simply log into your Once Human account and go into? any active character you currently own. If you don't have a character on an active server, you may be able to claim this hat from Eternalan??d.

I have an active character in the Prismverse's Clash, so when I logged on a prompt appeared on my screen. Follow the prompt by hitting the ?Y key and then click the "Enable Sign-Up Reminder" button.

And that's all you have to do for now.

In case you don't get the prompt??, you can also visit the Northern Tour event page (F3), click the sign-up button on the left side of your screen, and then enable the reminder from there.

And that's it, once The Way of Winter launches, you'll get this free hat a cute, pink beanie to keep yo??ur ears warm while we figure out how to make a campfire.

Not that there's b??een any indication that we'll be able to craft campfires, but I'm sure we'll discover some way to keep ourselves warm in the snow.
