Black Ops 6 first-ever season set the bar for Call of Duty’s newest era, bringing in the Citadelle des Morts and the Nuketown-inspired Area 99 maps. But now that players have spent quite a lot of time with the latest update, it’s time to look onwards with Season 2.
Here’s everything you need to know about BO6 and Warzone Seas🎀on 2, including a release date🌞 and upcoming content.
BO6 and Warzone Season 2 release date
According to the Battle Pass timer, Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 start on Jan. 28. It’ll likely launch during CoD’s standard update drops, around 9 a.m. PT/11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET. As always, clearing out some storage room beforehand is essential for the new season’s preloads.
While the wait for Season 2 may seem long, Treyarch has confirmed a major update on Jan. 3. This update is significant, featuring a new Squid Game crossover, Prop Hunt improvements, and Zombies’ Elemental Sword buffs.
There’s also a new High Roller Wildcard, a potent new gameplay modifier that rewards you with another scorestreak, and some significant bug fixes across the board. This update will undoubtedly keep things fresh before Season 2’s debut, brimming with Squid Game-based modes and Operators.
BO6 and Warzone Season 2 features, explained
Even though there’s not a whole lot of content revealed for BO6 and Warzone Season 2, we do know that an update for the Richochet Anti-Cheat system is on its way. indicates that it will arrive for Season 2 or, at the latest, Season 3. Cheating has unfortunately become a significant issue for Black Ops 6 players, particularly in Ranked Play. However, there’s hope that this will be addressed soon, restoring balance and fairness to the game.
Besides the potential Anti-Cheat update, Season 2 will introduce new maps, weapons, and Battle Pass. Content like this always drops with every seasonal update. Nevertheless, we still have yet to know what it will actually entail, as Treyarch has not yet confirmed BO6 and Warzone’s 2025 roadmap.
There have been a few hints here and there on what new content we can expect. In particular, Treyarch’s Associate Creative Director, Miles Leslie, mentioned that the team is “focused on delivering original designs as the majority of post-launch maps” during an interview with . That means Black Ops 6 and Warzone won’t have too many remastered maps from other titles. On the other hand, there’s still a possibility of it happening, as he states, “no previous Black Ops title is off the table for potential remasters.”
I’m still hoping for a Zombies Origins map return, especially in light of the rumors floating around. The mode continues to be one of the most beloved ones out there, but we’ll just have to see what Treyarch has next on the agenda. I’ll be sure to update this guide once more Season 2 content drops. A reveal will likely come out in mid-January or maybe slightly sooner if we get lucky.
