Summer Game Fest 2024 played host to Bumhouse Games’ reveal for the initial slate of titles it’ll be bringing to market from several developers around the industry, spanning a slew of genres and even including Sam Barlow’s next title.
Blumhouse Games was established last year and announced plans to bring horror titles to major platforms without having much to show off. During Summer Game Fest 2024, we got a look at everything it’s planning to publish, and every title looks unique. The most interesting thing about them all is that they don’t look like Dead Space or The Callisto Protocol. They’re not AAA titles. They’re all indie games with a distinct look and feel that makes them stand out.
Blumhouse Games outlines its initial run of horror games from indie developers, including Sam Barlow’s Project C
The section on Blumhouse Games begins at roughly 1:15:00 in the Summer Game Fest 2024 video above. In it, you’ll see short clips of every game the publisher is launching soon. I’ve listed all of them alongside their developers below.
- : Vermila Studios
- Grave Seasons: Perfect Garbage
- Sleep Awake: Eyes Out
- : Cozy Game Pals
- The Simulation: Plamestudio
- : Half Mermaid
The idea behind Blumhouse Games is to take what the film studišo does so well and apply it to games. Each of these titles offers something different within the horror genre, and now the company is gš§oing to shine a spotlight on all of them in a way that may never have been possible before.
I’m a huge fan of anything Sam Barlow works on, and can’t wait to see what Project C ends up being. However, the game that caught my eye the most from this segment of the show was actually Grave Seasons. It looks to be a fantastic blend of cozy gaming, slice-of-life simulator, and cosmic horror š¼with monsters hiding just off-screen.
Fear the Spotlight is releasing later in 2024 and is a classic 90s horror game that should apāpeal to more than just horror fans. Though it is incredibly spooky at its heart. Blumhouse Games explained that it would be starting with multiple į¦games in 2024, so expect to see a couple of the other titles hitting PC and console before the year is out.
Every single one of the titles shown by Blumhouse Games during Summer Game Fest 2024 is a celebration of indie horror in its purest form. I’m thoroughly excited to try all of them out and am thrilled that such a big name is taking these developers under its wing and helping them get their games out to as many people as possible.
