A disastrous debut on the big screen won’t stop the madness in the world of Pandora in video game format. During today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, developer Gearbox and publisher 2K Games officially announced the fourth installment in the looter shooter series, Borderlands 4, and confirmed it will be arriving in 2025..
In the trailer, we see what looks to be a cataclysmicᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ cosmic event that rains debris across the planet, followed by what looks like a machine or cyborg creature picking up the signature Borderlands mask. It was a brief cinematic trailer, but confirmation of its existence matched with the fact it appears to take place somewhere new and with a more sci-fi-influenced tone certainly has me excited to learn more.
According to the , players are tasked with seeing if they have what it takes to go down in history as a legendary Vault Hunter as they search for secret alien treasure, blasting everything in sight. You know, Borderlands stuff.
No platforms were confirmed, but the Steam listing indicates that both Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported, which could hint towards it being available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, as well as PC. I’m sure we’ll learn more soon ahead of Borderlands 4‘s 2025 release.
