Brian Cox is here to tell you about Devil Jin and the story so far for Tekken 8

Succession of the Iron Fist

Bandai Namco just released a very special five-minute recap of the history of the Mishima clan, to hype us up for Tekken 8’s release on January 26. And it’s narrated by none other than Succession‘s own Brian Cox.

What’s so special about Brian Cox narrating Tekken?

Any recap would be more than welcome at this point. Some Tekken fans weren’t even alive when the OG Tekken came out, and the plotline😼 gets highly convoluted sometimes, but the extra layer of awesome here is the presence of Brian Cox.

So what about it? You might think this is yet another out-of-touch promo by a Hollywood actor whose only knowledge of the gam🌃e comes from the teleprompter sitting right in front of him. Half of that is likely true, as I doubt Brian Cox knows what a Korean Backdash is, but he𓂃 has a surprising spiritual connection to this series that makes this work perfectly for people who love both properties.

That’s because, over the past five years or so, he’s starred in Succession, a show that feels like an American version of Tekken that replaces all the complex physical combos with clever writing that’s equally as devastating. Cox plays Logan Roy in Succession, a callous old man🐲 whose seat on the throne of megacorp Waystar | Royc🅷o is highly disputed by his progeny. Whether or not he noticed — or even cared — when filming that little video, Cox is the American version of Heihachi.

Mishima clan, TL;DR

The main plotline of the Tekken series is about Heihachi Mishima, the grandfather and (former) head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Kazuya, his son, and Jin Kazama, Kazuya’s estranged son.

Up until the end of Tekken 7, the three fought for the leadership of the company. At the end of Tekken 7, however, Kazuya seemingly manages to kill Heihachi, the series’ longstanding villain for good, and finally takes over the corporation. The plot of Tekken 8 revolves around the battle betwe🐬en Kazuya, the new herald of darkness, and🌌 Jin, who will hopefully turn out to be the champion of light.

Tekken 8 will come out on January 26 for P🙈layStation 5, Xb💯ox Series X|S, and PC.
