Though it’s getting great reviews and bringing even more people into the titular town of Silent Hill than the original Silent Hill 2 did, the beautifully harrowing remake suffers from a few technical hiccups. Tﷺhe most pressing of the bunch is a yet unpat꧒ched glitch that will stop players dead in their tracks.
Upon venturi🥂ng into Brookhaven Hospital, interacting with a seemingly harmless prompt in a porthole on the third floor of the hospital might accidentally teleport James to an inescapable area. This will immediatel🧸y soft-lock your progress.
warns that you should be able to reload to your last autosave and not have too much time wasted by this glitch. If the game didn’t autosave your progress when it should have, or if the file got corrupted (both are unfortunate possibilities), you will have to load your last manual save.
It seems as if this glitch is triggered by interacting with the porthole after you’ve been to the rooftop, so the recommendation here is that players ignore the interaction with the porthole if they have already reached the rooftop during that playthrough.
Either way, I recommend you perform manual saves😼 regularly during your playthrough and make sure to save right before reaching the roof.
There’s still no word on when the Bloober team will fix this glitch (and some other performance issues), but the game’s success and Konami’s will to keep it rolling likely dictates the quick manifestation of a patch. Otherwise, you can install a bunch of mods already to improve your experience if you’re playing the game on PC.
You can now enjoy Silent Hill 2 on PlayStation 5 and on PC.
