One such weapon that’s made a return is great for PvE, provided you have the right roll. Here’s the god roll for the Compass Rose shotgun in Destiny 2.

The Compass Rose is a 65 RPM shotgun sporting the Precision Frame archetype. This makes the weapon’s recoil more vertical, and thus more predictable. This may seem mediocre, but it gives us the ability to pick perks that are just good in general, rather than playing off the weapon’s archetype. For the Compass Rose, that leaves us with a little something like this:

  • Barrel: Rifled Barrel
  • Magazine: Assault Mag
  • Perk 1: Threat Detector
  • Perk 2: Opening Shot

Rifled Barrel gives us that extra edge in range. It’s not a huge amount, but given that the handling speed decrease isn’t too impactful, it’s a nice bonus. Assault Mag brings heavily improved stability and rate of fire, which for the sake of PvE and especially PvP, matters a lot. Threat Detector is an incredible perk on shotguns in general, since you should always have enemies in cl🤪ose range when it matters. Finally, we have Opening Shot, which improves your ability to engage a fight significantly.

As for other perks worth considering, One-Two Punch and Slideshot are naturally great options thanks to im🐈proving your combos or through granting bonuses off movement you were going to do anyway.

How to get the Compass Rose

The Compass Rose shotgun is available as a possible reward when completing the Bonfire Bash event activity. It is only available during the Solstice of Heroes event, but can be run as many times as you want. You can also get the weapon from Solstice Packages, which are acquired upo🐻n completing bounties. The bounties that grant them can be acquired from Eva Levante in the Tower.
