The announcement trailer also𝄹 comes with a story introduction and some brief, polished gameplay elements to hype up the fun.

The Plucky Squire’s charm comes from its colorful, cartoonish art style and the swaps between 2D and 3D gameplay. Playing as the protagonist of our fairytale story, Jot, you’ll set off on a magical adventure alongside friends to return to your book and defeat the story’s villain, Humgrump. As Humgrump kicks you out of the story and throws the land of Mojo into chaos, you’ll have to find your way back in while using the “real” world and the book’s features to save the day.

The game also features a peculiar shift in art as you swap from 2D to 3D, with the former having a simplistic, cartoonish style and 3D changing to a more realistic approach. I became interested in The Plucky Squire when it was first announced in 2022, and the more I hear about it, the more fascinated I am by its adorable yet slightly bizarre gameplay elements. I don’t normally love platformers, but I’m curious to give this one a shot.

The Plucky Squire will be available on🍒 Septembe🍨r 17, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
