The game doesn’t require an internet connection to be played, even though it was built with multiplayer sessions always being at the forefront of the design. In an , production director Gennadiy Korol explained that the team didn’t want single player for offline play to feel like second best. The team is also acutely aware that not every player has a solid internet connection all the time, especially those playing on the go.

When the game launches in early access on April 18, 2024, players will experience the single-player-focused version of No Rest for the Wicked. Multiplayer additions and features will be added over time because developer Moon Studios, which also made Ori and the Blind Forest, wants to get the core experience right before expanding on it and bringing the chaos of sevওeral players in the world into reality.

I’m really relieved to know this because I intend on playing the game on Steam Deck at launch. while the internet connection in my house is great, I don’t want to have to rely on one if I’m out playing in the car, on the train, or at someone else’s house.

Yes, No Rest for the Wicked is a single player game, but it’s built to allow many players to work together in the same world. This means that you’ll be able to head out on your own journey, build up your own amenities, and seek out every secret you can find on your own.

However, when you want to experience something different from that single player experience, you can hop into a multiplayer game. This allows you to join someone else’s world or have them enter yours so you can work together to take down powerful enemies and uncover some of the rarest and most powerful items in the game.
