Dragonhead Island location & directions Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Gliders on the storm.

Sky Islands have been one of the major selling points in Tears of the Kingdom. While the Depths is also included underneath Hyrule, the focus on the floating islands in the sky opens up not only a new playground for Link, but additional lore for the Kingdom of Hyrule. However, one of the islands in the game is a bit trickier to reach: Dragonhead Island. The reason? A massive storm e𒈔ncompassing it on the map.

How to Reach Dragonhead Island in TotK

You can reach Dragonhead Island by heading towards the suspicious storm at the bottom of the map, by the Sky Islands. This is where Dragonhead Island lies. However, the fog isn’t going to show you exactly how to get there. The best way to combat the storm, and ensure you make it to the island, is by flying there from somewhere safe on the map.

The best place to get to the isl💟and is from the Great Sky Island. I recommend fast traveling to the Nachoyah Shrine and climbing on top of where the R𝔍oom of Awakening lies. This is where you can start your trek southeast to Dragonhead Island.

While the map doesn’t show what the islands themselves look like with the storm blocking it, mark one of the small islands above the eye of the storm. The larger part of the storm is where the island is. It’s impossible to place pins on what you can’t see, so placing them close will provide an excellent waypoint while flying.

As for how you’ll make your way over to the island. Normally, a wing could do the trick, but their limited flight time will leave you stranded. However, fans don’t have that time limit. I recommend making an air bike out of two fans, and a steering stick, as you’ll be able to use it for the duration of your trip. Don’t forget to pack multiple Zonai Charges, or you’ll run out of battery.

It’ll be difficult but above the clouds, you will be able to capture bits of the islands. Skydiving from above will be your best bet. You can find a shrine right on Dragonhead🧸 Island at coordinates (1375, -3341, 0429).

How to Remove the Dragonhead Island Storm in TotK

While it’s a daunting task, and certainly difficult to make it to the island through the dense storm, there is a way to reach the island without having to worry about the low visibility. After completing the Regional Phenomona quest and additional story events at Hyrule Castle, you can talk to Purah and start “Find the Fifth Sage”. Following this quest line through will remove the storm, allowing you a clear view of Dragonhead Island.

TotK Dragonhead Island walkthrough

On Dragonhead Island is the Joku-U shrine. It’s a Rauru’s Blessing Shrine, which you can complete to gain a Light of Blessing.

Beyond that, as stated previously, this Dragonhead Island is central to the “Find the Fifth Sage” quest. As part of this, you can burn a wall of vines to descend deeper into the island where you’ll find a gate. This gate requires that you have 10 hearts to pass. Behind it, you’ll find a mask. Picking up this mask will cause it to shine a light on your destination, which is back down on Hyrule’s surface.

If you want, you can also explore the island. There’s a chest, Sundelions, and a Sage’s Will to discover.
