E3 is going to be massive, and it’s only a few days away. After taking a deep breath and digesting the mighty “Games of E3” list we posted yesterday, I polled the Destructoid staff to find out what title they think are going to be the hottest titles at the show. Or perhaps more specifically, what they’re looking forward to.
What did they say? You’ll never know until you hit the jump!

Dead Space 2
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Developer: Visceral Games
What is it?: Sequel to 2008’s surprise survival-horror hit that takes place in space and is all futuristic and stuff.
Why does it have your attention?: The first Dead Space is my favorite horror game of all time and the sequel looks to top💙 the original ten times ove♒r.
Also on my radar: Bulletstorm, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Vanquish, Spec Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops, GoldenEye, Dead Rising 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Halo: Reach, Splatterhouse, Homefront, Driver and Portal 2.
Hollie Bennett
Gears of War 3
Publisher: Epic Games
Developer: Microsoft Game Studios
What is it?: It is a sodding awesome game where I get a gun that has a CHAINSAW attached to it. It is also a violent shoot set in a world where humans sit on the brink of excitation. It makes brown look good.
Why does it have your attention?: A.GUN.WITH.A.CHAINSAW.ATTACHED. I am also a big fan of the GoW universe (I love the boo🦄ks) and hearing that Karen Travis is involved with the third game, the writer of said boo💞ks is awesome news. I am so very, very hyped for this game.
P.S I am a Baird fan-girl
Also on my radar: Fallout 3: Las Vegas, Portal 2, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, N3: Ninety-Nine Nights II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and any new headsets or gaming peripherals that Steel Series make.
Nick Chester
Bulletstorm
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Developer: People Can Fly/Epic Games
What is it?: An over-the-top first-person shooter by the folks who brought Painkiller, with a little help from the developers of Gears of War. It’s a game where sheer style and “doing cool s**t” is key, which means kicking a dude into a cactus for maximum points. Yes, into a cactus.
Why does it have your attention?: I said you can kick a dude into a f**king cactus for points; I don’t understand your question.
Also on my radar: Rock Band 3, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the 3DS hardware, Project Natal, Portal 2, Clash of Heroes HD, Comic Jumper, Gears of War 3, inFamous 2, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and probably some games I can’t talk about yet.
Chad Concelmo
Portal 2
Publisher: Valve
Developer: Valve
What is it?: The anticipated sequel to one of the most original and well-designed games of the last decade. If you played the original, you have to be dying to see where Valve goes with this follow-up (Gordon and Chell meet-up, perhaps?).
Why does it have your attention?: Honestly, Portal 2, Zelda (Wii), and The Last Guardian are in a three-way tie for my most anticipated (announced) games at E3 (come on, surprise Pikmin 3 appearance!), but there has already been a little information revealed concerning The Last Guardian and, as great as it will probably be, I t🉐hink most of know what Zelda (Wii) will look and play like.
Portal 2, on💯 the other hand, has been completely veiled in secrecy since 🎐its announcement a few months ago. If this sequel is even half as interesting, creative, and well-designed as the original, gamers are in for a real treat.
Also, Valve. I am madly in love with Valve.
Also on my radar: Dead Rising 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Okamiden, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, Epic Mickey, Dead Space 2, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Zelda (Wii), Metroid: Other M, Valkyria Chronicles II, LittleBigPlanet 2, The Last Guardian, de Blob: The Underground, Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4
Jordan Devore
Pikmin 3
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo
What is it?: A follow-up to Pikmin 2 with presumably more of the same imaginative, adorable, addictive treasure hunting and monster harvesting.
Why does it have your attention?: If Super Mario Galaxy 2 taught me anything, it’s that you can never have enough of that patented Nintendo whimsy.
Also on my radar: Dead Space 2, Vanquish, X-COM, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, and whatever Project Natal‘s packing.
Jonathan Holmes
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Publisher: Ubisoft
Developer: Paul Robertson and some other guys
What is it?: The videogame adaptation of a comic book about a guy who uses videogame-logic to play rock music and beat up on guys who are better looking than he is.
Why does it have your attention?: Paul Robertson is one of my favorite animators ever, and I like a lot of animators. I also like videogames, and this game (and the comics it’s based on) work hard to pay tribute to the things videogames do best.
Metroid: Other M
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Project M
What is it?: A new Metroid game that takes place between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion that plays like a cross between those two games, mixed with Metroid Prime, Shadow Complex, and Duck Hunt.
Why does it have your attention?: I f*cking love Duck Hunt, and those other four games are good too. Also, “REMEMBUH ME?”
Also on my radar: Ghost Trick, Zelda Wii, Pikmin 3, Pokemon Black/White, Bit.Trip 5, Super Meat Boy, The Last Guardian, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Dead Rising 2, Ape Escape PS3, Metal Gear: Rising, Xenoblade, The Last Story, Sonic Colors
Matthew Razak
3DS
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo
What is it?: The next in Nintendo’s seemingly unstoppable handheld gaming systems
Why does it have your attention?: This one might be the most obvious choice, but there is no way you can’t be immensely interested in what Nintendo is going to bring out at their press conference. How’s it going to work, what’s it going to do, will it change the face of portable gaming or even gaming in general. 3D seems like a shnazzy gimmick, but if Nintendo uses it right it could really do some cool stuff. It’s hard to believe that Nintendo can make a mistake in the handheld department, so I’m thinking this will be awesome.
Ico/Shadow of Colossus Bundle
Publisher: Sony
Developer: Team Ico
What it is?: A rumored HD port of Team Ico’s Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
Why does it have your attention?: Having never played Ico and only defeated two of the Colossi I desperately want this. In a less selfish route, this would get two of the best games (so I’m told) ever made out in front of another generation’s audience. That can’t be a bad thing
Also on my radar: Zelda Wii, Metroid: Other M, Okamiden, Dead Rising 2, Epic Mikey, Dead Space 2, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Splatterhouse, Conduit 2 (Wii), Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, Sonic Colors, Vanquish, Gears of War 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, The Last Gaurdian, de Blob: The Underground, Portal 2
Jonathan Ross
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
What is it? The game that will probably rip me away from Super Street Fighter IV next spring. A fighter with what looks to be a unique (and pretty awesome) graphical style, a kickass roster (hopefully!), and what’s looking like an actual, legitimate story.
Why does it have your attention?: I’m a huge fighting game whore, a pretty big Capcom fan, and I guess comics are cool too. I’m desperately hoping they announce some Phoenix Wright characters for this game.
Also on my radar: Sid Meier’s Civilization V, Brink, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid: Other M, The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy XIV, & Portal 2.
Samit Sarkar
The Last Guardian
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Team ICO
What is it?: The long-awaited final chapter in Fumito Ueda’s haunting, ethereal trilogy, The Last Guardian — from what little we’ve seen of it — looks like a beautiful boy-and-beast game that’s almost certain to make you cry by the end.
Why does it have your attention?: Just look at the pedigree — ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are two of the best, most beloved PlayStation 2 games ever made.
Rock Band 3
Publisher: MTV Games
Developer: Harmonix
What is it?: The next evolution of Harmonix’s full-band music game will let you jam out on a brand-new keyboard peripheral as well as sing three-part harmonies.
Why does it have your attention?: Those two additions — keyboard and backup vocals — were two of my most-wanted improvements for Rock Band 3, and after seeing the partial song list, I’m sold.
Also on my radar: Madden NFL 11, NHL 11, NBA Elite 11, NBA 2K11, NHL Slapshot, NHL 2K11, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Gears of War 3, Brink, Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, inFamous 2, Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, Gran Turismo 5, Driver, Portal 2, a PSN premium subscription, whatever the he♋ll Project Natal turns out to be, Hulu on 360 (or PS3)
Jim Sterling
Killzone 3
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Guerrilla Games
What is it?: A first-person shooter sequel to 2009’s critically acclaimed PS3 exclusive. Now boasts jetpacks, melee combat, and loads more Helghast for shooting.
Why does it have your attention?: Killzone 2 was my favorite PS3 game of last year, and my most played online title. I’ve always had a fondness for the Killzone universe and I’m expecting Guerrilla to really know it out of the park with this one.
The Legend of Zelda (full title unknown)
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo
What is it?: Do you really have to ask? It’s the follow-up to Twilight Princess, the next home console outing for the Zelda franchise. Also, THAT BITCH IS A SWORD!
Why does it have your attention?: I always have time for a new Legend of Zelda game and unlike some, I loved Twilight Princess. I’ve been hyped for this game for months and I can’t wait to finally see it unveiled.
Also on my radar: Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Vanquish, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Sonic Colors
