We knew that a Vita version of Street Fighter x Tekken was definitely possible after seeing Capcom’s work on Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, but how well will the two v🉐ersions wo🐎rk together in cross play?
Beautifully. Well, at least on the same network. I went hands-on with both the Vita and PS3 versions to test it out, and from what I could tell, the action was perfectly synced. Playing the Vita version, I held it up in front of the television displaying the PS3 session for a bit and noticed no difference; it was a frame-to-frame match. Throws, supers, cancels — everything perfectly mirrored. If it works this well online, over both WiFi and 3G (and yes, 3G online play is confirmed), Capcom will have set the bar high for console-to-portable cross play.
There’s another benefit to nabbing the Vita version of Street Fighter x Tekken beyond the cross play features. The 12 new characters in the portable version will carry over to the console version🍌, unlocking them for play. And, in turn, all DLC will also carry over.
We look forward to putting the cross play features of Street Fighter x Tekken to the test when it drops this fall.
