Earth Defense Force … on my iPhone?

I feel like all the sudden, my precious Earth Defense Force is going through some sort of renaissance. A few months ago, I was happily replaying the 360 version with one of my best friends in mad pursuit of the Genocide Gun, saying, “One of these days, maybe they’ll make a sequel…” And then the next thing I know, there’s a new game on the way, EDF 4 announced, a PSP version, and Earth Defense Force Legend for mobile phones. Wait a sec … make that five!

has announced that the next release in the Jaleco Arcade Series is a re-release of Super Earth Defense Force, which originally came out on the SNES. It doesn’t contain voiceovers, so you won’t hear gems such as “Go back to space!” and “The old man is dead!”, but it’s still a bit of fun anyway. Hit the jump to see a video preview of the title.

No word on pricing, but DotEmu says it’s coming to the App Store very soon, so keep an eye out. EDF for life!
