Microsoft picked up Obsidian and inXile
Microsoft just wrapped X018, its “celebration of all things Xbox.” What went down? A lot of crowd cheering, an on-stage selfie with Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto, and a release date for Crackdown 3.
While much of the show’s news was Game Pass-centric as you’d probably expect, there were a few surprises. Microsoft closed out the with two more notable studio acquisitions: Fallout: New Vegas maker Obsidian and Wasteland 2 creator inXile Entertainment. These teams join the likes of Playground Games, Undead Labs, Compulsion Games, Ninja Theory, and The Initi🔯ative.
X018 was uneven at times as certain segments dragged on way longer than they ne🅘eded to, but that back-and-forth pacing kind of comes with the territory for these shows. For better or worse, the stream felt like a longer, more energetic, fan-focused version of the normal showcases.
