It feels like just yesterday that patch 7.1 dropped in Final Fantasy XIV, but the development team at Square Enix is already looking ahead to pa꧑tch 7.2, and we’ll hopefully be getting some long-awaited details about upcoming additions during Live Letter from Producer 85 on February 7.
Any FFXIV player is intricately familiar with the update process by this point. Updaꦏtes with one number after the decimal point are the biggies, bringing a host of new content to dive into and additional MSQ quests. Patch 7.2 has the potential to be a🅺 very exciting one, depending on what gets revealed to the West during Live Letter 85.
As i𝔍s pretty expected by this point, those in the US will need to be awake before sunrise if you want to tune in live. The Live Letter will be streaming on both and at 6 a.m. EST (3 a.m. PST) on February 7, so it might be a good idea to get an early night the day before.
So what🐓 can we expect from th💛is Live Letter, and for that matter, patch 7.2 in general?
Well, the biggest thing that players are waiting on, other than a release date for the patch itself, is more details about both Cosmic Exploration and Shade’s Triangle. We were teased with concept art for both the Cosmic Exploration (Crafting and Gathering content similar to that experience in The Diadem) a long time ago, and we’ve only heard whispers of Shade’s Triangle (large-scale battle content similar to both Eureka and The Bozjan Southern Front) as of yet.
Interestingly, players in the East have been given more details about both than the West, with information and further art revealed during both Chinese and Korean FanFest celebration♍s. These tidbℱits of information obviously trickled through to the West, but are we finally going to be directly told more of what to expect? We can hope.
Of course, there’s no guarantee that we’ll be told anything about either of 𝄹these bits of content. We’ll likely be given teasers about where the MSQ is headed, along with some information about upcoming dungeons andও possible trials. There’s likely to be a new Allied Society announced, and we may even get a new Variant Dungeon, if we’re lucky. But none of this is confirmed, and it won’t be until the day of the Live Letter.
One thing we already know is coming in patch 7.2 is the next tier of 8-player Arcadion raids, dubbedཧ the Cruiserweight tier. This will include four new duties in both normal and savage difficulty, bringing new gear and itemsﷺ to grind for.
Overall, it’s an exciting time to be an FFXIV player, with a lot to look forward to. Even though it’s going to drag you out of bed before the sun😼 even rises, it’s worth tuning in on February 7 to get the first glimpse of what’s to come.
