The FFXIV Moogle Treasure Trove returns on January 30, but it’💧s not the same Treasure Trove that we’ve grown used to. This time, we’ll have challenges to face, and Tomestones can be earned by doing far more than running Dungeons.
In the past, we’ve grown used to running the same old Dungeons in order to amass Moogle Tomestones, which can be exchanged for event items. It’s usually the same story: Praetorium suddenly becomes popular again, Blue Mage parties are all the rage, and queue times are greatly reduced.
However, the FFXIV development team seems to have picked up on community boredom surrounding the formula and has flipped the tables on us. This time, with The First Hunt for Genesis, players can now earn Tomestones by completing challenges outl♍ined in the M♌ogpendium.
This event will run from January 30 until March 11 and, according to the information provided on the , there will be a part two coming at that time. For now, though, we know more on the ﷽first half.
The Mogpendium
Standard Objectives
Of course, they couldn’t do away with the old ways completely, so you can still grind old dungeons for Tomestones. These “standard adjectives” can be completed as many times as you like, and Tomestones wi🗹﷽ll, as always, be rewarded automatically upon completion.
As well as these dungeons and trials, though, GATEs within the Gold Saucer also count towards Standard Objectives and reward an undisclosed number of Tomestones. Time to bring your jumpiꦯng skills up to par, if you’re wanting to complete Leap of Faith for a boo🅠st in Tomestones!
Ocean fishing also joins the task list, but players are only rewarded ♈Tomestones if a score of more than 12,000 ♍for a single route is recorded, which makes it one of the more challenging ways to collect them.
Weekly Objectives
Each week, commencing with the weekly reset on Tuesdays at 12 am PST/5 am EST/8 am GMT, players will be assigned one Standard Objective at random as their Weekly objective. There’s no information ab༺out how ma🔯ny extra Tomestones players can earn by completing the weekly objective, but it’s sure to be a nice boost to the normal number from your assigned Duty.
Tomestone rewards for Weekly Objectives are claimed through the Mogpendium, rather than being automaticall𓆏y awarded upon completion of the ꦇassociated Duty.
Minimog Challenges
Although no direct information has been provided as to what thes👍e Minimog Challenges include, the images provided on th💮e suggest that the following activities will be part of the roster:
- FATEs
- Ocean Fishing
- The Hunt
- Triple Triad
- Treasure Hunts
The post also states that we should “complete one of the two objectives” for Tomestones. These Minimog challenges are also ren𝔉ewed with weekly reset, and you will need to claim your rew💞ard through the Mogpendium.
Ultimog Challenges
This presumably high difficulty challenge will be available to complete once per event, so you have until March 11 to complete the as yet undisclosed Duty in order to receive a “sizable Tomestone reward”. Again, this reward will need to be claimed via the Mogpendium and is not awarded automatically.
Included within the description for Ultimog Challenges in the official post, the team say that we should “test our mettle”. These exact words have been included within the official description of The Gilded Araya prior to its release with Patch 6.55, so that could be a clue♚ to what we’ll need to complete.
That’s just speculation on my part, though, so don’t take my word for it. As instructed, be sure to check the Mogpendium for 💜more information during the event itself.
Tomestone Rewards
As always, there is a long list of rewards up for grabs, and in case you missed out on it previously, the Mameshiba Neckerchief returns as the 100 Tomestone reward.
