Gun Media has announced that its asymmetrical horror title Friday the 13th: The Game will be delisted this December, following the expiration of the studio’s license. The multiplayer massacre will then continue to operate until “at least” the end of 2024 for those who already own it.

Released in the summer of 2017, Friday the 13th: The Game is an adaptation of the classic “slasher movie” series, and sees parties of Crystal Lake camp counselors attempt to stay five steps ahead of the blade of unstoppable serial killer Jason Voorhees. The title has already suffered through licensing issues, which caused the servers to be switched off momentarily in 2020, but it seems that this time, the red tape is far more unkillable than our hockey mask-sporting psycho.

“The time has come, begins a statement posted to the game’s . “Our license for Friday the 13th will expire on December 31st, 2023. On that date, Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be available for sale, both physically and digitally. The game will, however, continue to function through at least December 31, 2024, if you already own it.”

Gun Media has reduced the price of the game to five dollars, with all DLC now retailing for a dollar apiece. The publisher is currently preparing the launch of its next release, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game, which walks a similar path of PvP action, and will see a team of Survivors attempting to out🦩wit the terrifying Sawyer family, led by the horrific butcher, Leatherface.

Friday the 13th: The Game 🌜will be delisted on December 31. It is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox Oඣne, and Nintendo Switch.
