Comes with a fancy controller
Today at the company announced Android N alongside their new virtual reality platform, Daydream, that will work across multiple new phones. Similar to Gear VR, it works by popping Android N phones in Daydream-ready VR headsets to be made by manufacturers based on a reference design provided by Google. Also announced with the headset is a small remote-like controller with orientation sensors that seems to work similarly to the Wii remote’s gyroscope. Standalone headsets will also be available this fall, but didn’t say who was making them.
During the demonstration, it looks like a few previously unannounced game titles were shown such as Need For Speed: No Limits VR, and EVE Gunjack Next. Many developers are already working on games for the new headset including such heavy hitters as EA and Ubisoft. Google noted that their new graphics rendering engine “Vulkan” that allows greater detail and power efficiency than was possible with OpenGL on mobile GPUs. Since Android N will have a dedicated VR mode, these technologies combined hope to squeeze all power possible from your cancer stick.
