Grand Theft Auto V has been rated R18+ in Australia

Thank goodness

Following recent issues with Saints Row IV getting properly classified by the Australian Classification Board, it’s something of a pleasant surprise to see that Grand Theft Auto V h💖as moved through the process 🥂and with an R18+ rating.

The game’s drug use — described by the board as “high impact” — was cause for concern, as it has been with other games like State of Decay. GTA V also has plenty of sex, nudity, violence, and harsh language, but those categories all got away with “strong impact” marks.

I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand the thought process that goes into rating media.
