Helldivers 2’s hilarious fall damage reduction trick is a bug that probably won’t get fixed anytime soon

It's falling with style!

Pro tip: The next time an exploding Tank sends you hurling through the air, emote — it may just save your life. Emoting in the air in Helldivers 2 may reduce fall damage, and it’s a bug that’s likely here for a while.

Emoting while flying through the air isn’t a new trick to Helldivers 2 players, but the related bug that prevents fall damage is the latest topic thanks to a recent clip. As (excellent name) on the official Helldivers 2 subreddit, whipping out a salute or hug emote𓆏 while in the air may prevent lethal fall damage.

Helldivers 2 CEO asks for the fall damage emote bug to stay

The clip, posted yesterday, shows their diver sailing through the air, busting out a💖 handshake emote before hitting the ground. Miraculously, the diver lives with about a third of their health remaining. Talk arose abou🅠t the bug, and predictably, a lot of players . The new Arrowhead Games CEO agrees.

The bug footage didn’t escape the eye of Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani. Quoting on an X post with the clip, Jorjani simply : “can we please, please keep this?”

If the CEO wants the bug to stay, who can say no? Well, maybe Johan Pilestedt, the former CEO. But I’d guess he’d be on board with keeping it.

Hell, many players are discussing how the bug can become a real feature. “I wanna see two ‘divers doing this whilst playing rock / paper / scissors,” who was suddenly struck with pure, white-hot brilliance. Other users imagine busting out a Super Earth salute as they aim for the bushes. Jorjani also couldn’t help .

I think I predict what the next Super Destroyer Ship ꦯModule will be.
