Helldivers 2 fixes its Superior Packing Methodology bug yet some players were quick to doubt

The module should now work as intended

On June 13, Arrowhead Game Studios put out a meaty Helldivers 2 patch that was meant to bring some much-needed adjustments to the game. While it did do that, it unfortunately created whole new issues for fans to be annoyed with. One major complaint was that the Superior Packing Methodology ship module didn’t work anymore, but today’s patch seems to have finally fixed it after roughly two and a half weeks of waiting.

Arrowhead dropped the news via the official Helldivers 2 Discord as per usual, with it later being shared on . We haven’t had the chance to test it ourselves, but say that the issue has most definitely been resolved. However, there’s something rather telling about how there was still plenty of doubt beforehand, with the Reddit thread’s title saying the bug had “supposedly” been fixed.

unwilling to take the patch notes at face value, of simply cracked jokes about the fix breaking something else, like the FAF-14 Spear Stratagem which the June 13 patch also broke but was fixed in last week’s patch. “The fact that we have to even say “supposedly” is so depressing,” reads . Another , “Given their past record, nothing can be certain until players test it out themselves. I usually trust patch notes, but when it comes to [Arrowhead], I really have to see it with my own eyes.”

Given the month the Helldivers 2 community has faced, with the game’s performance having also worsened and a recent Personal Order being bugged, it’s perhaps not surprising to see some players be so skeptical with subsequent patches. Frustration with the constant issues has likely contributed to Helldivers 2‘s dwindling player numbers. While a drop in player count months after launch is natural, Helldivers 2 has lost 90% of its PC players since it released in February, not helped by the exodus of players who dropped off when Sony made PlayStation accounts mandatory (a decision the company soon U-turned on). The game could be faring much better on PlayStation 5, but there’s no way to tell what the console player count is like.

That said, there is plenty of positivity to go around. A quick glance through shows there are still many players enjoying themselves. is already hooked after an eight-hour session, and a couple have shared clips to highlight precisely what makes Helldivers 2 so special.
