Conduit 2 developer High Voltage has praised the 3DS’ technical power, claiming it to be more mighty than the Wii. I’m not sure if being more powerful than the Wii is something one can be proud of, but alright.
“In some ways, it’s even more powerful than the Wii,” said creative director Matt Corso. “The amount of power dedicated to the small screen opens a lot of possibilities, and the shading and texture ability is superior.”
Producer Keith Hadlik added his surprise that the system could do what it does: “From our internal testing we have been incredibly surprised at what the little system can do. From a strictly visual point-of-view, it is impressive. We are able to pull off many advanced lighting and texture techniques much more easily than on the Wii. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a cost to doing them, only that they can be done more easily.”
After seeing the NGP’s software in action, I don’t think harping on about the 3DS’ graphical power is the way to go. In fact, it kind of looks silly to do so in light of the NGP’s terrifying ability. The 3DS is going to be a big hit, but it won’t be because of the visuals.
