You might think naming an antagonist simply “RoboCop 2” is a bit goofy. For that matter, the name RoboCop is goofy to begin with. However, 🍌it ma🍷ke sense when you consider that both cyborgs were designed as a product and needed to be marketed as such.
RoboCop 2’s appearance in RoboCop: Rogue City might seem like obvious fan service. That’s because it probably is. However, it also ties up the plotline of the CEO of Omni Consumer Products known only as “The Old Man.” Between the movies RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, the character dies, and Rogue City takes th𒁃e opportunity to explain this and send the character off in what is probably the most excessive and over-the-top way anyone can conceive.
The Old Man is dying in RoboCop: Rogue City, but he wants to live on to see his dream of Delta City become a reality. He invest꧟s in programs that will help him continue, but when they don’t bear fruit in time, he falls on the backuꦇp plan of becoming a cyborg like Alex Murphy or Cain.
Unfortunately, not everyone knows about this, so when he dies, OCP looks to replace him. When he shows back up ꩲin his new cyborg body, he finds that Becker is in the midst of taking over the company, and The Old Man doesn’t take it well. He goes on a rampage, whic😼h Alex Murphy shows up to deal with.
Maybe it’s just a contrivance to allow players to throw down against one of RoboCop’s g🔯reatest adversaries, but here we are.
How to beat RoboCop 2
RoboCop 2 has a love for blowing holes in the floor. However, while cutscene Alex Murphy seems to have a lot of🍃 difficulty when it comes to moving out of the way of his attacks, it’s pretty simple for you. All you need to do is move to the edge of the room when he charges his beam, and you won’t get caught in the collapsing floor.
In a straight head-to-head fight, it’s difficult to really stay ouꦺt of RoboCop 2’s line of fire. He’ll blast through walls and furniture to hit you. Your strategy should be ins💎tead to keep a good distance from the metal monstrosity and keep aiming for his nipple. That is to say, that large ionizing radiation symbol on his right chest (your left). If you scan him in battle, it will glow. Every hit on it will be critical.
There are weapons in the environment you can pick up to use, but I imagine you’ve buffed up your Auto9 at this point. Speaking of buff, don’t be afraid to lay on som🔜e shields and slow-motion reflexes to give 🦄you an advantage. Just make sure you keep your distance.
Eventually, he’ll throw Murphy through a window (aga𝔉in, guy can’t dodge), and the battle will resume in the underground parking garage. Shooting him in the nipple will still work here.
Finally, the two RoboCops will climb back to the OCP building’s lobby. At this point, the nipple won’t be♛ as sensitive anymore. He’ll launch long-range missiles at you and will charge directly through the rubble on the floor.
You can keep doing chip damage to him, or shoot him in the screen when it opens to face you. However, the quickest way I found to put him down is by grabbing a grenade launch off the corpse of a police officer near a video information column in the south-west of the lobby. Each successful hit will take off a small chunk of his remaining health, and anything l🌌eft over can be chipped off with ꦗthe Auto9
You’ll then be given a choice to save, kill, or leaveꦕ the Old Man to die. Regardless of which you pick, RoboCop 2 will be༒ destroyed, and Alex Murphy will escape victoriously from the crumbling OCP tower.
