How to appear offline in Roblox

Give yourself some peace and quiet.

Roblox is filled with thousands of incredible games you can jump into solo or with friends. It’s also a great platform for getting together to play games with others because you can add friends and keep track of when everyone is playing. But sometimes, you just want to go it alone.

While there are single player experiences on Roblox, there are several reasons you might just want to appear offline so no one bothers you. For example, you might not want to interact with anyone and simply enjoy a game by yourself while you grind Voltstanding in Type Soul or something similar. For parents, being able to make a profile appear offline will help ensure strangers don’t try to chat with their children. However, the platform doesn’t make it easy to do this, so you need to go out of your way to make it possible.

To appear offline in Roblox, you must first launch your settings page. This is found in the More menu, accessed from the options on the left-hand side of the screen. If you’re running Roblox in your browser, you’ll find the settings menu behind the cog icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Once you’re in, open your Privacy settings.

Roblox doesn’t have a native offline setting. So, to appear offline, you need to turn everything in your Privacy settings to ‘No One’ and switch the Communication setting to ‘Off.’ This will ensure that no one can see the green dot that usually appears in your avatar if you’re on their friend list, and no one will be able to message you or add you to a game or server at this point.

Make sure that you change all of your ‘Other Settings’ on this page to ‘No One’ as well because they have an impact on who can see you and interact with you. I love that you can switch all of these off and effectively go incognito while trying out games alone without anyone else dragging you away or sending you messages when you only want to play.

Note that you can do this across all platforms, allowing yourself to appear offline wherever you’re playing Roblox. With so many games on the pl✨atform and the potential for you to encounter all sorts of people, this is a great safety net to help keep players away from strangers but also give yourself some peace from playing with others, considering how many games on Roblox are multiplayer and absolutely packed.
