Mohg, Lord Of Blood is a boss you’ll to enter the new area that’ll come with the Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC. He’s not particularly hard to kill, but he’s a tricky one to get to.
To mitigate the troubles of all players who might just want to get to the DLC area as soon as it launches, I made this hopefully handy guide that’ll help you get to the boss, kick his ass out of the way, and venture forth on to the new adventure.
How to reach Mogh, Lord of Blood
Mohg is one of the big optional bosses in Elden Ring, meaning that he’s meant to provide an extraordinary challenge. The biggest challenge here, however, is getting to the guy.
First off, we’ll need to find two pieces of one medallion, which we will hoist to open a passage. The first part of this medallion is in the Village of the Albinaurics.
You’ll find it just a bit to the west of the site of grace there, but there’s a trick. To get it, you’ll need to hit a pot that’s actually the last Albunauric trying to go unnoticed. Attack it once, and he’ll show up to give you the medallion. He’ll be at the higher corner of the village, more or less where you see this Erdtree flower in my game.
The second part of the medallion can be found on the rooftop of Castle S🧸ol.
With both halves of the medallion, you should head for the Grand Lift Of Rold, where you’ll switch the dialogue options to find the secret option “Hoist secret Medallion”.
This will take you to a new area where we’ll look for an unmarked portal around my blue mark.
This will warp you to Moghwyn Palace, Mohg’s underground headquarters. You’ll land on the Palace Approach Ledge-Road site of grace, and won’t get the map below to guide you. My recommendation is that you call Torrent and just move toward the spot I marked in green. The enemies between you and that site might look daunting, but I doubt you’ll have much trouble getting there.
The bad news is that, at this point, the map is pr💯etty much useless, as the way to Mohg is kinda straightforward. Walk up the stairs, and continue moving forward.
You’ll reach a cave that, despite dark, is easy to navigate so long as you have a torch on you. After the cave, you’ll find a big elevator that will take you to the Mohg fight.
How to beat Mohg, Lord Of Blood
Mohg’s weakness lies in his basic Trident attacks which are slow and telegraphed. You cannot parry Mohg’s moves, but you can either block or — preferably, as always, dodge-roll his moves. He doesn’t have many combos and will leave plenty of openings you should use to cause great damage.
Upon bringing him down to around half HP, Mohg will grow wings to enter his second phase. Mohg will now gain the ability to fly and either cast ranged blood magic or lunge at the player, with the lunge being the most dangerous move, as it’s Mohg’s only fast move. If there’s one move I’d recommend you memorize, it’s that one, so that you’re always ready to dodge when he comes at you.
Mohg also uses fire and his attacks cause bleed buildup, so that’s another thing you need to be careful with. He has a few dangerous AOE attacks, but his defense is lacking, and it’s easy to break his stance to get the best of him.
Beating Mohg’s Nihil attack
But Mohg’s big weapon is his magic. He has a very powerful move that he can use to suck high amounts of HP from the player to replenish his own, but that move has a weakness. To cast it, he warns you by screaming the word “Nihil” three times before getting the chance to deal a great amount of damage. To counter it, you can make use of the Purifying Crystal Tear, or just be ready to time your healing before he casts it in case you don’t have enough HP to take a big hit.
If you’re having trouble beating Mohg, remember that summoning a friend and/or spirit ashes is always an option. If even that doesn’t do it, then you can head to the Underground Roadside site of grace in Leyndel, then head down to the bottom of the sewers to find Mohg’s Shackle, a tool that you can use to stun Mohg twice and thus deal a bunch of damage.
You’ll find Mohg’s Shackle guarded by one giant Crayfish. I’d recommend you just get the item and leave, as there’s yet another Crayfish in that area that you might end up inviting to battle.
Once you kill Mohg, you’ll be greeted by the sight below, which is where you’ll eventually get to begin Shadow Of The Erdtree.
There’s still no word on whether you’ll need any other specific item to proceed to the DLC area. Once you’ve killed Mohg, the “only” other thing you’ll need to do is defeat Starscourge Radahn.
Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree releases on June 21 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One,𝄹 Xbox 🌺Series X|S, and PC.
