As you begin to adopt animals and expand the variety of livestock on your farm in Fields of Mistria, you’ll unl🎉ock the ability to breed animals. Not only does this give you even more critters, but it also offers the chance to unlock rarer color types.
Rare animal types are no different from the regular types that you can initially purchase from Hayden outside of their colors, but it’s always nice to have a bit of variety. Don’t worry if this sounds a little confusing. I can walk you through how to get each, but first, let’s look at the basic animal breeding mechanics in Fields of Mistria.
How to breed animals in Fields of Mistria
In order to breed two animals in Fields of Mistria, you’ll need to have two opposite-sex animals of the same species that are fully matured. Starting out, you can buy the soon-to-be parents as starter color variants from Hayden’s shop, with more types available through breeding.
Fields of Mistria’s types are broken down int⛄o tiers, and the colors included in each tier are as follows:
Tier | Colors available |
Tier 1 | The first three colors of each animal you can purchase from Hayden |
Tier 2 | Further colors which reflect real life examples |
Tier 3 | Plue, Pink, Purple |
Tier 4 | Silver |
Tier 5 | Gold |
Tier 6 | Seasonal variants (one for each season) |
For small animals that can occupy a Coop, maturity is reached three days after purchasin🐬g. Barn animals🉐 mature five days after purchase.
Once you’ve got two suitable animals, make sure you’ve got extra space in their Coop or Barn, and then head to Hayden’s. Here, you’ll be able to purchase Heart Shaped Treats, and there are specific ones for each animal. You’ll need two, and then you can head back to your farm and feed one to each prospective parent. It’s best to feed both animals the treats at the sa🌄me time, but you need to do💎 it on the same day to enable successful breeding.
The next day, a stork icon should apꦡpear next to both animals in the animal section of the main menu, showing that they have successfully bred. This stork status will remain in place for four in-game days before a baby is successfully born.
How to breed higher tier variants of animals in Fields of Mistria
This is where things get a little confusing, but I❀’ll tr✅y to break it down into the simplest terms.
In order to get a higher⛎-tier variant of an animal, two animals of a lower tier must be bred together. For instance, 🍰two tier 1 animals will produce a tier 2 variant of that animal. There is a small chance that breeding two animals of the same tier will produce a child that skips a tier, but this is a rare occurrence.
If you breed a tier 1 animal with a tier 2 animal, you’re likely to get a tier 3 variant of that animal, but if there is a tier gap of more than one (such as a tier🎶 1 and a tier 3) there is a chance that this pairing could result in a🌺 tier 2 child.
To ensure that you end up with a child that’s a higher tier than its parents, make sure to breed two animals of the same tier. Once you’ve successfully bred a new color of an animal, you’ll be able to purchase it from Hayden’s shop, although the price will be higher than the original three choic🌸es.
How to get seasonal variants of animals in Fields of Mistria
Regardless of which tier each parent is, they will always have a slim chance of birthing a seasonal variant (tier 6) child, although it is far from guaranteed and you’ll need luck on your side to ge♋t a tier 6 baby.
A seasonal child will always correspond with which season it was conceived in, rather than the one♔ in which it was born. For instance, if you feed Heart Shaped Treats to two cows on Summer 26, the pairing has a chance to result in a summer variant, despite the child being born on Fall 2.
