If you use the Final Fantasy XIV Launcher to start up ꧋your game, you’re used to seeing the chose🅷n artwork in the background. But one thing added as part of the 7.1 update is the ability to customize your launcher to suit your tastes.
Are you a fan of G’raha? I mean, really, who isn’t? Maybe you’ve got a soft spot for Erenville, and who could blame you? Well, now you can pick them to greet you whenever you open up the official Launcher to log in to Final Fantasy XIV. They’re not the only options, of course, but it’s nice that they are options among the current group of six.
How to change your background in the Final Fantasy XIV Launcher

To change your background in the FFXIV Launcher, open it up and input your log-in details, but d🉐on’t press “Play”. Instead, locate the cog button in the top right-hand side of the window, click it, and you’🐓ll be taken to the Config menu.
After the 7.1 update is live, there will be a new section underneath “Theme” where the possible backgrounds will sho🐈w up. There are currently a to🍒tal of six different designs that you can set to greet you:
- Meteor (standard)
- Krile
- Wuk Lamat
- G’raha
- Erenville
- Tuliyollal vista
The 7.2 update added five additi♕onal Launcher backgrounds♌ to choose from, including the remainder to the Scions who were conspicuously missing from the first round of backgrounds:
- Alphinaud
- Alisaie
- Y’shtola
- Urianger
- Thancred
- Estinien
To choose your background, click on the image you like and it will become surrounded by a green borde🌼r with a green tick in the top right corner. Then, if you want to see your changes implemented right away, you’ll need to exit the Launcher anဣd re-open it. Either way, you’re free to log in and get to playing.

You can also choose for the background to be different each time you log in, adding a nice element of surprise to your login experience. To do this, make sure that every image (or the ones that you like) is surrounded by the green border and ti🅘cked off. Then, each time you log in, you’ll be greeted by someo✅ne different.
It’s hard to tell if other backgrounds will be coming in future updates, but as we have the main characters now all present and accounted for, it seems unlikely that further characters could be added. Although having said that, we are missing Koana, so there is hope that he might be added as an option soon.
