How to feed Owls in Disney Dreamlight Valley

At least these owls have an easy diet.

Owls are the first animal you can interact with in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale expansion outside Bird Snippets. While owls are carnivorous in the real world, the same can’t be said for their DDV counterparts. At least, not when it comes to an owl’s favorite food.

What is an Owl’s favorite food in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

An owl’s favorite food in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale expansion is barley. Once you have some barley, give it to any𒀰 owl you encounter in The Bind or the Library of Lore to complete any Dreamlight tasks related to your favorite owl foods.

Alternatively, you can feed owls any grain ingredient as a liked item. These include ingredients like Elysian Grain and Oats, but I’ve also had success giving them sugarcane.

All owl types and schedules

Disney Dreamlight Valley has four owl types you can encounter, each with thei▨r own spawn locations and times. Below is every owl type and their schedules:

Owl TypeLocationTime
Brown OwlThe Library of LoreAll Day (Monday to Friday)
Dark OwlThe Library of LoreAll Day (Saturday and Sunday)
Light OwlThe Bind3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Every day)
Purple OwlThe Bind12 a.m. to 9 a.m. (Every day)

Although none of these owls are particularly rare, their specific schedules can make certain ones difficult to find if you’re only online on particular days or times.

How to get Barley in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You’ll unlock barley by purchasing its seeds in The Bind and waiting 15 minutes for them to grow. One seed pack costs 15 Star Coins, making them relatively inexpensive compared to other items you’ll gain later in your playthrough.

Although it normally takes 15 minutes for barley to grow after planting and watering them, you can use Miracle Growth Elixirs to harvest them instantly. Although I wouldn’t consider this the most effective use for this elixir, especially considering its rarity, it can help you in a pinch if you want to feed an owl quickly or are close to its despawn time.
