How to find Valhalla Nursing Home basement code in Alan Wake 2

Getting your feet wet.

Saga Anderson certainly has her hands full with Taken. When one shuts down the power for the Valhalla Nursing Home in Alan Wake 2, she must venture into the basement — where she’ll eventually need a toolbox code.

You don’t get access to the Valhalla Nursing Home until you reach Saga’s chapter, Return 5: Old Gods. When a pesky Taken knocks out the home’s power, you are charged with heading down into the aging building’s basement to turn it back on. But to do so, you first need a fuse, which is locked in a toolbox with a three-digit code. Figuring out the code may not be the most complicated puzzle in Alan Wake 2 (that belongs to one of the math puzzles, no d🅷oubt), but the🍒 winding basement can be an ordeal to navigate.

But you need to find the basement of the Valhalla Nursing Home first. You can’t access it from within the home proper, despite what you may think. Instead, take a quick look at the nursing home map and note the basement entrance on the first floor. Judging by how snugly it fits between the ‘Stage’ (with the jukebox) and the ‘Wellness Center’ entrance, you can deduce that the entrance is outside:

Leave via the Stage’s exit and make your way around:

Once you get inside, it’s a matter of navigating the area until you find what you need. Move through the area, making your way through the boiler room. You’ll eventually discover a small entrance in a brick wall you can duck into:

Check the map if the entrance is eluding you:

It leads you to the ‘Storage Room’ where you’ll find a movie projector and the toolbox in question. Walk past the toolbox and make your way into the ‘Laundry Room’. Navigate around the room until you spot a corkboard to the left of some washing machines. Read the posted letter for the code: 2-7-3.

Now, all you ha⭕ve to do is return to the toolbox and unlock it for the fuse.
