The underwater areas of Island Adventure open up for exploration once you’ve unlocked the basic Flippers through Keroppi and unlocked the Snorkel through Kuromi. It’🧸s a vast space, rivaling the landlocked areas in size and secrets, but it can take a long time to explore.

If you want to upgrade your Flippers to the fasterꩵ vers෴ion, here’s what you need to know.

However you look at it, Fast Flippers are a late-game upgrade. You’ll onl🅺y be able to get them o🌸nce you’ve completed a long list of quests:

  • “Open the Nature Preserve” (Keroppi level 2)
  • “Comic Relief” (Hangyodon level 6)
  • “Bring Back the Swing” (Pekkle level 5)
  • “Fire Up the Volcano” (Retsuko level 11)
  • “Swimming Lessons” (Retsuko level 17)
  • “A Long Awaited Introduction” (after unlocking Merry Meadows)
  • “A Clue on the Shore” (after completing all of the above)
  • “Island Stone” (after completing “A Clue on the Shore”)
  • “Rain or Shine” (after completing “Island Stone”)

I know this looks like a dreadfully long process, 𝄹and it is, but you’ll be able to complete these quests through regular gameplay as a natural part of progression.

Completing “Rain or Shine” will unlock rain on Friendship Island, and it’s this rain that you’ll need if you want to unlock Fast Flippers because the rain will make Rainfall Flowers emerge in any area where it happens to be raining. These flowers can be watered using the Watering Can, just as you would water Gift Flowers.

Every time you water a Rainfall Flower, you stand a chance to get the Fast Flippers re✱cipe. Once you’ve got that, you’ll need to continue wate꧃ring Raindrop Flowers to get 50 of their usual resource, Raindrops.

Once you’ve got the recipe and the required 50 Raindrops, you can craft Fast Flippers at either of the Crafting Tables in Seaside Resort or Gemstone Town. You only need your original Flippers and the 50 Raindrops to make Fast Flippers.

Are Fast Flippers worth it?

In a single word, yes. Fast Flippers dramatically increase your swimming speed both on the surface of the water and while diving. This is usefuꦐl for underwater exploration because it means you’ll be able to get further u🎶sing less stamina.

The effect will also stack with character abilities and potions, so you can team up with Hangyodon, consume a Swimming Speed potion, and zip through the wat﷽ers ꦦof Rainbow Reef at lightning speed.
