How to get Ipe Lumber in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV)

If you鈥檙e looking to save yourself some Gil and make your own Archeo gear in聽Final Fantasy XIV, you鈥檙e going to need some hard-to-c馃幎o馃Цme-by resources. Of course, you could buy them on the Marketboard, but this quickly grows expensive.

Ipe Lumber is a common ingredient in the new level 100, iLvl 710 crafted Archeo gear. You need two 戋卪aterials to make馃敟 Ipe Lumber:

• Ipe Logs
• Xbr鈥檃al Varnish

Fortunately, both are easy to come by if you know how 鈥� one is from Tomestones and the other is a special timed node available in Dawntrail.

How to get Tomes of Folklore in Final Fantasy XIV

Each expansion comes with its own Tomes of Fol馃€�klore. These books work in a similar way馃巸 to Master Recipes, allowing gatherers to find nodes which otherwise wouldn鈥檛 appear. These nodes invariably yield rare materials, such as is the case with Ipe Logs. 

To purchase Dawntrail鈥檚 Tomes of Folklore, speak to any Scrip Exchange vendor and select the category 鈥楪atherers鈥� Scrips (Regional Folklore/Materials/Misc.)’. Then, underneath, select the subcategory of 鈥楶urple Scrip Exchange (Lv. 100 Folklore Items)’. Each Tome costs 1600 Purple Gatherers鈥� Scrips.

To get Ipe Logs, you鈥檒l need to purchase the 鈥楾ome of Botanical Folklore – Yok Tural鈥�. 

How to get Ipe Logs in Final Fantasy XIV

Now that you know how to get the Regional Folklore you need, you can finally move on to getting Ipe Logs. However, you鈥檒l need to make sure that you鈥檝e got a perception level of at least 4480, which is easily achieved by melding a pile of Gatherer鈥檚 Guile materia onto your gear. These can be purchased through the Scrip Exchange or on the Ma軎ketboard. 

Ipe Logs spawn in level 100 Legendary Mature Trees in the southeastern corner of Kozama鈥檜ka (shown above). These are time locked nodes, and you鈥檒l need to head to Kozama鈥檜ka via the Earthenshire Aetheryte between 12馃尦 a.m. and 2 a.m. or 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. 

These aren鈥檛 collectables, and you鈥檒l get six chances to get as many Ipe Logs as you can per round, so make sure to use Bles饞妿sed Harvest II in order to maximize 馃崒your Yield. 

How to get Xbr鈥檃al Varnish in Final Fantasy XIV

Thankfully, getting your hands on Xbr鈥檃al Varnish is very easy, as long as you鈥檝e bene running  your Daily Roulettes and stocking up on Tomestones of Aesthetics.

To get Xbr鈥檃al Varnish, head to Solution Nine and talk to Zir鈽俢on in the Nexus Arcade (X:8.6, Y:13.6), selecting 鈥楢llagan Tomestones of Aesthetics (Other)鈥�. You鈥檒l find a selection of new ingredients here, including Xbr鈥檃al Varnish, for 20 Tomestones of Aesthetics each.

How to make Ipe Lumber in Final Fantasy XIV

Once you鈥檝e gathered the two b饾攭ase ingredients, you鈥檙e also going to need to purchase at least one Master Recipe book for your Carpenter. Once you鈥檝e done that, you can get to crafting. 

To make one Ipe Lumber, you鈥檒l need馃悷 the following ingredients:

• 4 Ipe Logs
• 2 Xbr鈥檃al Varnish

You鈥檒l need your craftsmanship to be at least 4,740 in o馃rder to craft Ipe Lumber, which again can be achieved by pil馃尦ing materia onto your gear. In this case, you鈥檒l need Craftsman鈥檚 Competence materia.
