How to get the leather strips in Project Zomboid

Even though it’s got its quirks, Project Zomboid largely follows the real world’s rules of survival, and though we don’t have zombies running around (yet), we do know that leather protects from bites. Leather strips, then, are an invaluable resource in Project Zomboid, and I’ll teach you how to make loads.

Even if you’re a total newcomer to Project Zomboid, the odds are good that you’ll quickly find out just how useful it is to rip clothes apart. In the vast majority of cases, this nets you a handful of ripped sheets which can then be turned into bandages, climbing ropes, window covers, and a variety of other useful items. When you come across denim and leather clothes, however, the option to tear them down into more rugged materials isn’t there, and that’s because you’ll need tools to get denim and leather strips. Here’s how it works!

Crafting leather strips in Project Zomboid

While you can find leather strips during your travels in Project Zomboid, the odds of doing so are pretty small. Instead, you’re going to want to source as many leather clothing items as possible by searching through stores and taking down zombies. Along the way, you’ll also need to grab a pair of scissors, which usually aren’t too hard to find in homes, workshops, and storefronts.

The option to rip apart leather clothes won’t appear until you have scissors in your backpack/inventory, so the tool is instrumental in this situation. After you’ve got scissors, you’ll be able to just right click and rip apart any piece of leather clothing you might have. Examples include leather jackets, pants, and gloves. None of these items are outright rare, but they are rarer than jeans, shirts, and other 🍬random piec💧es of clothing.

Note, too, that you cannot render leather belts, shoes, and holsters back into leather strips. There are , but that’s a topic for another day.

How to use leather strips in Project Zomboid?

Once you’ve got a handful of leather strips, you’ll be able to use them for all sorts of things. Not all of these things are recommended, however. Here are a few examples of things to do with leather strips in Project Zomboid:

• Patch up clothing (the best material to do so with, by far).
• Craft holsters and quivers.
• Create backpacks and expand your inventory.

On the other hand, it is not recommended to use leather strips as bandages unless you absolutely have to do so.
