Update 1.6 brought Stardew Valley players many fun and interesting things, and one of these things is Spouse Portraits. While these aren’t vital to gameplay in any way, and they don’t acꦇtually do anything, they’re nice additions to your Farmhouse once you g🎃et them.
For those of you who like to spread your love around Pelican Town, whether through mods or via a method similar to Henry VIII, (obviously minus the beheadings), you get to keep each portrait regardless ofღ whether you’re still married to your spouse or not. This means you can create a gallery of all past or current spouses.
How to get Spouse Portraits in Stardew Valley
As suggested by the name, you can only get these Portraits after🌸 one of the Villagerꦚs becomes your Spouse, which can only happen after completing the following steps:
- Once you’ve reached eight heart friendship with a Villager, purchase a Bouquet from Pierre’s shop and gift it to the Villager who has caught your eye, or your heart, rewarding you with the final two hearts and making them your girlfriend/boyfriend
- After reaching 10 heart friendship, purchase a Mermaid Pendant from the Old Mariner (he’s the strange man who shows up on the Beach when it rains) for 5,000 Gold and give it to your beau
After completing these steps, wait three days for the wedding to happen and voila! You now have a husband or wife, and you can now purchase their Portrait from the Traveling Cart. If you’re wondering how to get them up to 8 heart friendship in the first place, try giving them their favorite gifts.
The only exception to this rule is Krobus, who you cannot marry but can move into your spare room as your Roommate. His Portrait was added in update 1.6.3.
All Spouse Portraits in Stardew Valley
After marrying someone, you can purchase🐟 their Spouse Portrait from the Traveling Cart as many times as you like. Unfortunately, Portraits are not included as part of the Furniture Catalogue so the Traveling Cart is the only place to get your hands on them.
Each Portrait will set you back 30,000 Gold, so they’re pretty expensive. However, once you’ve placed one on your wall it’s yours to keep forever, even if you d💙ecide to move on to another Spouse.
