Sulfur is unabashedly awesome, but that’s not to say the game won’t be getting awesomer still. Its latest update, for example, massively expands the available storage capacities. The catch? You’ve got to work for it! The Suitcase will likely be your first inventory expansion item, for example.
Released as part of Sulfur’s aptly titled Warehouse Update, the Suitcase is the most basic of all the new inventory expansion items. There’s a grand total of five of them for you to chase after, and while the Safe can easily be purchased from one of the vendor NPCs (if you’ve got 32,000 Sulf Coins to spare), the same cannot be said about the rest of them. Here’s how to get the Suitcase and why it’s crucial for your Sulfur gameplay experience.
Unlocking the Suitcase item in Sulfur
Even though the game doesn’t ever spell it out for you, the odds are good that you’ll unlock the Suitcase reasonably early on. What you want to do is to jump headfirst into the Caves and slowly push your way towards the biome’s final boss, Cousin.
Sooner or later, you’ll take the Cousin down, and one of the items you get for taking him down is the Suitcase. If you’ve been playing Sulfur from day one of its Early Access release, then the odds are good that you’ve already dealt with Cousin time and again. This doesn’t matter for the Suitcase unlock, however, so you’ll have to get the monster taken down a page yet once more.
If that sounds like a pain, it shouldn’t: the Suitcase is awesome. Sulfur has a ridiculous amount of loot for you to hoard, and inventory storage has been an issue from day one onwards. The ability to expand it with items such as the Suitcase (which adds 60 new inventory slots) iဣs a huge boon that will allow you to keep more loot for longe༺r periods.
The catch is that each inventory expansion item drops as a piece of loot, and you need to extract with it in your inventory for it to unlock. This is a pretty big issue, given how massive these items are, and it’s entirely possible to lose them if you’re not careful/lucky enough.
Where to find other inventory expansion items in Sulfur?
Of course, you’re also going to want to hunt for the four remaining storage items:
- The Safe (which is purchased off the One-Armed Bandit for 32,000 Coins).
- The Refrigerator (found randomly in the Sewers; look through the various waterways and tunnels).
- The Wardrobe (defeat the final boss in the Castle biome).
- The Chest of Drawers (found randomly in the Castle).
These are absolutely invaluable as you’ll quickly find yourself running out of space in Sulfur. Further, unlocking them as soon as possible will set you up for times to come as Sulfur receives more and more content.
