When you start your journey, your MyPlayer begins at an overall rating of 60 and with all bronze badges. He is at his weakest (quite obvious), and you’ll want to improve his attributes, badges, and GOAT skills as quickly as possible. Now, you can buy VCs and upgrade his attributes all the way to 99 overall, but that’s going to cost you a lot of money. Instead, there are a few tips and tricks that you can follow to save money and improve your MyPlayer at a rapid pace in MyCareer.

Best NBA 2K25 tips and tricks to grow your MyPlayer

VCs are the only way to grow your MyPlayer’s attributes, but there are more aspects of making the best possible build. Let’s take a look at all the key areas you’ll need to pay attention to grow fast.

  • GOAT skills: You can assign two GOAT skills and trigger them during a game. GOAT skills are crucial when your overall is low. When activated, a GOAT skill boosts four in-game attributes massively for a limited period. Use GOAT skills that fit with your build and are upgradeable. An upgraded GOAT skill will have longer durations, so at least use one that lasts for 8 minutes or more.
  • Skill boosts: These are essential in-game items that can benefit your builds, especially in must-win games.
  • 2x XP boosts/2x Rep: They’re helpful if you’re trying to win rewards in quick time.
  • Team practice: This is a boring activity, but it helps you to take a break between NBA games. Practices also help to increase your maximum overall rating and develop your badges.
  • VC: In the end, the more VC you have, the better it gets. Let’s take a look at different ways to earn VC without spending your money.

How to get free VC in NBA 2K25?

When you start your journey, you’ll have VC in your inventory (even the Standard Edition has 5,000 VC, and the Trendsetter Pack gets you 15,000 more). Here’s how you can earn more of them without thinning your wallets.

  • Complete games in higher difficulties: It’s obvious – you earn VCs by completing different games in MyCareer. You’ll get more VC at higher difficulties, but don’t challenge a level where you’ll perform poorly.
  • Use VC: Use the entire pool of your starting VC to upgrade the shooting capabilities of your MyPlayer. The build doesn’t matter – you’ll want good close shooting, a mid-point shot, and, preferably, a 3-point shot. Good shooting stats are essential to win games in MyCareer. You also unlock the shooting badges, and they will get better over time with practice and completed games.
  • Complete quests: You’ll get new quests appearing now and then in MyCareer. Some of them will be quick and fetch you about 500 VC. Others will require completing multiple tasks, but they reward you with up to 2,500 VC. Make sure to check out the side quests, as some of them are repetitive.
  • Daily spin: Remember to go to your affiliation daily and try the daily spin. You’ll either get VC or other in-game items for free.
  • Complete the season pass: Season passes provide some fantastic items that will help you grow your MyPlayer. Even if you didn’t get the premium upgrade, don’t worry. Make sure to use the 2x XP modifiers as you get them – their values will reduce once your MyPlayer has reached a high overall.

Ultimately, taking your MyPlayer to the top without spending on VCs in NBA 2K25 is a slow process. But you can get there eventually. My MyPlayer is at 72 overall in less than two days, even though I play at lower difficulties and💛 focus on the NBA games. You can do much better than me, especially if you have friends to help out with the city-based activities.
