A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing quest walkthrough

Upon finishing the Wolf of the Wilds quest, A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing will begin immediately after. Your first goal is to enter the Fairy Tale Trial Gateway’s portal, which is what we’re starting with. From here onward, it all comes down to a series of puzzles unique to The Storybook Vale and those reminiscent of A Rift in Time’s final act.

Once you enter the portal, you’ll notice things aren’t quite what you’d expect. Rather than experiencing a fantastical fairytale adventure, you’ll spawn in a dark, gloomy castle full of ink. Nonetheless, it’s part of our journey and our responsibility to venture forward.

As you step down the stairs and clear the first batch of ink, use your Royal Net to swing horizontally at the golden wheel, opening the first door👍 to the rest of the castle.

Now that you’re in the castle’s first main room, you’ll notice several branching paths and doorways. Before doing anything, approach the door and start talking to it.

Although this seems strange initially, you’ll get a response from the Wolf of the Wilds. They’ll try to act tough, but there’s something suspicious here. It’s time to find proof that this wolf isn’t who they claim to be.

That 𓃲said, we h🌃ave three pieces of evidence for this bizarre trial:

  • Disprove what big feet he has.
  • Disprove what a wolfish smell he has.
  • Disprove what a fierce howl he has.

It’s certainly odd, but that’s what fairytales are all about. Or, well, that’s what Disney Dreamlight Valley’s variation of it is all about.

Wolf’s Big Feet

Our first destination is the horizontal wheel to 𒆙the left of the door. Swinging at it opens the door to its le꧅ft, revealing our first puzzle room.

Upon entering the room and circling around the pillar, you’ll notice four question mark blocks on the wall, some Roman numerals, and various images around the room. These pictures indicate how to rotate each question block. Below is each symbol and its number:

  • Wolf: I (one)
  • Tower: II (two)
  • Dragon: III (three)
  • Flower: IV (four)

Although the wolf and dragon are relatively easy to find, with both being on the left side of the room, the other two are a bit challenging. The tower is behind the central pillar, visible if you stand in front of the questio🌼n blocks and turn around. The fourth and final one is off to the right behind some rocks.

After revealing all four pictures, turn the question blocks until some wolfish slippers appear on the ground for you to pick up — one pieܫce of evidence down, two more to go.

Wolfish Musk

Our next destination is in the back corner next to the big do🐷or. Up the staircase, you’ll see another wheel that requires a vertical Royal Net swing to activate. Doing this opens the smaller door next to it, leading into our second puzzle.

Here, you’ll spot a campfire, scroll, and two potion tables. If you played through the Rift in Time expansion, this may remind you of the essence combinations puzzle ꦅfro🍌m the third act. At least, that’s what came to mind for me at first.

The scroll is the first key part of this, as it contains several hints about makin💎g the perfect wolfish🐟 musk. Below is a quick summary of them:

  • The musk requires one wolf-related ingredient.
  • You need to include oil but avoid using water or drool.
  • Make sure it smells like a forest.
  • Use three ingredients.

Sওimilarly, you’ll find the following items on each table:

  • Oil
  • Distilled Water
  • Woodland Pine Fragrance
  • Wolf Fur
  • Wolf Drool
  • Magnolia and Orange Blossom Fragrance

Seeing these items combined with the hints, we can deduce🐼 the following combination to make the wolfish musk potion:

  • Oil
  • Wolf Fur
  • Woodland Pine Fragrance

With all three items on hand, use them in the nearby campfire to make some Eau de Wolf. That’s our second piece of evidence down, with only one more rꦦemaining.

Wolf’s Fierce Howl

Our last spot is the room directly to the right of the previous one. Rather than using your Royal Net, you’ll need to unlock this by digging the question bloc💞k with your shovel. Doing this reveals the same icons as in the first puzzle room, which you’ll need to match to the one above the door. In my case, I saw the tower, so I dug it twice to open the door.

Doing this also begiꦐns the Not By the Hair on My Chinny Chin Cಌhin quest.

Our first step is to enter the door we just unlocked. After all, we spent the time to open it, so we might as well see what’s up. Entering the room introduces you to a decoration puzzle, where you’ll move various decorations around.

Upon interacting with the scroll pedestaꦡl, you’ll find the follo🙈wing hints:

  • The hidden entrance will only trigger when the right building material is used to decorate in the right spot.
  • In the first construction zone, place something that’s easier to blow away by huffing and puffing.
  • In the second, place something just a little bit sturdier.
  • In the third, place something that no big bad wolf could ever blow down.

If you’re familiar with this fairy tale, you’ll probably already know how to rearrange everything. That said, head into your furniture menu and rearrange the dec💧orations into the following boxes:

  • Place the hay bale in the first square
  • Place the wood in the second square
  • Place the bricks in the third square

Once you place the final decoration🍸, the back wall will open, revealing a Howling Gramophone. Finding this completes the Not by the Hair on my Chinny Chin Chin quest and advances you through the Fairy Tale Trial.

Finishing the A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing quest

Now that we have eꦦvery item, head back to the wolf’s door to present the evidence. You’ll find out that the wolf behi෴nd the door is, in fact, not a wolf at all. Instead, it was someone under a spell.

More specifically, Flynn from Tangled comes out to greet you, commenting that he was experiencing what he believed to be a nightmare. You’ll learn that Maleficent was behind this and ask for his assistance with stopping the spread of the curse that’s infecting the Storybook Vale. He’ll point to the source of the corruption, allowing you to clear away some of the curse while growing a beanstalk to Maleficent’s castle.

With all that said and done, you and Flynn will discuss the situation at hand and how to deal with it. First, though, you’ll build his house in Storybook Vale, pay the 10,000 Star Coin fee, and officially invite him to your village. With one final conversation, you’ll officially complete Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing que𝔍st and conquer your first Fairy Tale Triꦜal.
