How to unlock the FFXIV Reaper job and where to find it

It’s mostly painless, like the other expansions

So Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is out, and it’s time to unlock the Reaper class. You can’t resist it, right? The edgy clothing. The fact that you can unlock another damage dealer to use on top of your other five DPS jobs. It’s too much! I can’t stop you. Here’s how to unlock the FFXIV Reaper.

Thankfully, the process for the Reaper is similar to past expansion u🍬nlocks.

Unlock the FFXIV Reaper 1

Head to

Go to the coordinates X:12.8 Y: 8.6 — you can view these on your in-game map without a mod. Then speak to the Flustered Attendant to begin the process to unlock the FFXIV Reaper.

Unlock the FFXIV Reaper 2

From there, just walk to the Steps of Thal to the next part of the loop (Ul’dah was the most confusing city to learn for me when starting out years ago) and talk to the quest NPC there at X:14.0 and Y:11.5. Walk back around the loop to talk to the last NPC in the Steps of Thal, and you got the Reaper job unlock.

You need to be level 70 on a disciple of war or magic job first (read: a combat class). And that’s pretty much it!

The Reaper will actually start at level 70, so you have a brand new high-level char🐽acter at your disposal so long as you meet the requirements.

Here are the typical provisos for new classes:

“In accordance with the addition of these new jobs, gear for reaper and sage has been added to the rewards for certain duties, and will now be sold by merchant NPCs. Please note, however, that reaper and sage cannot be used in the Hall of the Novice, nor can they receive the first-time completion bonus from guildhests.”
