One of the most vital parts of life in Fields of Mistria is rearing liꦕvestock, and to do that, you need some farm buildings. Coops and Barns can each hold different types of animals, and they each come in three different sizes.
Before you can get animals on your farm in Fields of Mistria, you’ll need to repair both the Bridge and the Mill. Repairing the Bridge is the first task set for you by Adeline and happens fairly early on. Then, once that’s done, you’ll get a letter from Adeline in the mail after the Spring Festival in your first year. Visiting her in her office will spark the quest to repair the Mill, and when th⛄at’s done, you can move on to get some animals.
How to get Barns and Coops in Fields of Mistria
After you’ve repaired the Mill, you’ll get a letter in the mail from Ryis telling you that you can now purchase Barns and Coops. Initially, you’ll be able to get two different sizes of each building, each of which comes in either red or white. The color of the building doesn’t affect the resources needed to build them, nor the number of animals that it can hold. It’s purely aesthetic, and which one you get depends on the look you’re going for on your Farm.
To build a Coop or Barn, you’ll need to head to the Carpenter’s Shop to purchase the blueprint, then place the footprint of the building down on y♛our farm. A box will appear where you can place resources over time, and the building will be built when all of the necessary resources are placed in the box.
Each farm building requires the following resource🧔s and funds to build:
Farm building | Resources needed | Blueprint cost | Capacity |
---|---|---|---|
Small Coop | 75 Wood75 Stone | 1,500 Tesserae | 4 |
Medium Coop | 100 Wood75 Stone | 3,000 Tesserae | 4 |
Small Barn | 100 Wood75 Stone | 2,000 Tesserae | 8 |
Medium Barn | 125 Wood100 Stone | 4,000 Tesserae | 8 |
How to get Large Coops and Barns in Fields of Mistria
The blueprints for Large Coops and Barns only become available when you receive a letter from Ryis after reaching level 40 in the Ranching skill. This is done by treating your animals well by feeding and petting them🦹 each day, letting them out of the buildings when the weatಞher is nice, and not leaving them outside overnight.
Large Coops and Barns aren’t too expensive, but if you want to replace an existing bu♚ilding with a larger version, you’ll need to put all of the contained animals in daycare at Hayden’s Farm, remove the original building, then place the new bigger buil꧑ding down where you want it to be before getting the animals back out of daycare.
This seems like a faff, but it’s worth doing if you 🐭want to maximize on animal produce while saving on space and you do at least get the resources back that you used to create the original building. Sadly, the Tesserae spent buying the blueprints is not returned, but you do get to keep the old blueprint to place elsewhere if you want to.
