Gone but not forgotten.

Dragon Ball Super broke the long streak of nearly 20 years without a new manga or anime series in the beloved Dragon Ball franchise. But with its fate up in the air, will we ever see a Dragon Ball Super Season 2?

Will Dragon Ball Super Season 2 ever happen?

The short answer is an unfortunate one, but we simply don’t know if we will ever see Dragon Ball Super Season 2 happen. A second season of the show was never confirmed or formally announced by Toei Animation in the fꦆirst place. To make matters worse, the manga is currently on an indefinite hiatus after the release of Chapter 103.

This is all because of the tragic and sudden passing of legendary Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. This changed everything for the series, including putting the manga on a full stop for now following the conclusion of the Super Hero arc. Because of this tragic event, the future of Dragon Ball Super all around feels uncertain.

Dragon Ball Daima is the best bet for fans

While Dragon Ball Super is up in the air at this time, not all hope is lost for fans. After all, at the time of writing, it appears that Dragon Ball Daima is still in the pipeline to be released this year in 2024. The upcoming꧙ brand new anime series will release sometime in the fall anime season and it will feature Goku and the rest of the Z Warriors returned to children form after a curse is put on them.

We don’t know too much about this series, but Akira Toriyama contributed to it before his passing. It will seemingly take place in the four-year gap between the end of the Majin Buu Saga in Dragon Ball Z and the start of Super. While not a sequel to Super like some m💮ay want, it will at least provide a nic𒁏e bit of content in the popular universe.

Dragon Ball Super still has content to cover

While the Dragon Ball Super manga’s fate remains up in the air, there is a chance we could still see some anime content in the future. Aft𓄧er all, the manga has two entire story arcs that were never adapted into anime form. The Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga takes place after the Tournament of Power and matches the length of it in the 🉐manga on its own, with 15 total chapters.

In addition, this arc was followed up by the exceptional Granolah the Survivor Saga, which is the longest arc in the manga series to date with 20 chapters. Both of these could work for a Season 2, but if Toei Animation doesn’t want to do that, they could even work as a couple of standalone movies similar to what happened with Super Hero. That could at least satisfy fans while the future of Dragon Ball is determined.
