Is the PlayStation Network (PSN) down?

Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) is the PlayStation 4 and 5’s gateway for online play. The service has experienced its fair share of ugly outages, and any disruption in the service likely means you can’t play online with friends.

Sometimes, PlayStation reliably relays any PSN outage and the cause through social media, but that may take a while. So, we’ll report any network hiccups impacting PS4 and PS5 users here; along with updates as they come in an official capacity.

Is the PSN down right now?

As of October 11, 4:25 p.m. CST, the official PSN server status reported outages to its ‘Gaming and Social’ services. PlayStation’s official details explain:

Game streaming
Affected platforms: PS4, PS5

Affected services: You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

For now, the PSN server status page notes account management, video, store, and PlayStation Direct services remain online. There’s no official ETA on when the PSN will go back online.

On October 11, 4:10 p.m. CST, some users are reporting PSN outages. On , PlayStation customers continue to share screenshots of their devices failing to connect to the network. The support account, @AskPlayStation, hasn’t responded in a public capacity yet.

Sony officially reports the on its end, but the PlayStation online tracker seems a bit delayed every time user reports roll in. It’s also worth noting that the PSN server status isn’t the same across all regions.

What is PlayStation officially saying?
