Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 becomes the top seller on Steam in less than a day

That 31% discount obviously helped.

Given the anticipation for the long-awaited Steam releases of the Kingdom Hearts games, it should come as no surprise to hear that they’re selling well. In less than 24 hours, the HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX compilation has rocketed up the platform’s sales charts and is currently , outperforming even Helldivers 2 and Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, the latter of which only launched today.

While the series has been available for PC owners via the Epic Games Store since 2021, Steam users have obviously wanted to see it launch on their platform of choice. I have to imagine a decent number of these sales are a result of established fans buying the games again (I should know, I’m one of them). Aside from them being playable on Steam Deck, Square Enix is discounting the whole series by 31% until July 11. So, the HD 1.5+2.5 collection, which consists of four games and two cutscene compilations, is going for $34.49/£27.59. You can even get the whole series (seven gamꦇes in total) for $68.99/£58.64, whic💜h is a frankly amazing deal.

Admittedly, the Kingdom Hearts 2.8 collection and Kingdom Hearts 3 aren’t performing as strongly, and are ranked much lower in the Steam sales chart. They also have smaller player counts according to SteamDB, peaking at only 186 players () and 817 players (). By comparison, the HD 1.5+2.5 collection peakඣed at 6,809 players and, at the time ꦦof writing, .

It makes sense for the HD 1.5+2.5 collection to be the most popular. It’s the cheapest of the three offers, it includes more games, and it’s also the recommended starting point for new fans, covering the first eight years of Kingdom Hearts content. As such, KH2.8 and KH3 could start to pick ▨up in player count in 🐷the coming weeks or months.

It’ll be interesting to see how long the HD 1.5+2.5 collection stays at the top of the sales charts but, regardless, this has hopefully proved to Square Enix that there’s an audience for future Kingdom Hearts games on Steam. With any luck, Kingdom Hearts 4 will come to PC the same day as its console counterpart, which isn’t too far-fetched considering Square Enix wants more multiplatform titles in the future. Presumably, KH4 is at least in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but there’s been no official confirmation on release platforms.
