There’s a Nintendo Direct in store for today, but ahead of the big stream, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom popped up on retail sites last night with a surprising price tag. On some sites, including the Nintendo store, the new Zelda game was listed with a price tag of $69.99.

As reported by and who caught the original store page as it went up, Tears of the Kingdom ꦯwent live on the Nintendo Store last night with a $69.99 price tag.🦂 This listing was eventually taken down, but not before many took notice of the number.

Other retailers for Tears of the Kingdom but have . It’s worth noting that at those retailers, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was sitting at the standard $59.99 price point.

It’s a weird set of circumstances, all happening the night before Nintendo’s first big Direct of 2023. Though Tears of the Kingdom hadn’t popped onto the Nintendo eShop just yet, it still has its release date set for May 12, 2023.

More than likely, we’ll get more information about Tears of the Kingdom today, as that launch date is getting closer and closer. Nintendo’s Switch games haven’t crossed the threshold into $70 territory yet, unlike some other major publishers. Whether we see that line budged over or not, it will certainly be something fans are looking for in today’s stream.

The Nintendo Direct goes live on and other channels at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT. It’s expected to run roughly 40 minutes, and be mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2023.
