Lethal Company monster guide: How to deal with the Bracken

Here's how to outsneak the snake.

You shouldn’t mess with most of Lethal Company’s monsters — especially the Bracken. I ranked the Bracken as the third spookiest monster in Lethal Company back when the game came out, and I can confirm he’s still got it.

This monster doesn’t look that scary, though, right? Well, that’s because I showed you one of the few instances in which a Bracken got caught under natural light. The Bracken tends to be no more noticeable than a creepy shadow but way more deadly than one.

Oh, that’s more like it. Let’s learn how to deal with this nightmare, shall we? Here’s a complete guide on dealing with one of Lethal Company’s most well-known entities, the Bracken.

Where does the Bracken Spawn in Lethal Company?

The Bracken monster can spawn on every Moon in Lethal Company. While it🦋 has low odds of appearing on maps l▨ike Experimentation, Assurance, and Offence, others like Vow, March, and Rend have fairly high spawn rates for this entity.

Here’s every Moon currently available in Lethal Company and their Bracken spawn rates:

MoonSpawn Rate
5-Embrion1%
21-Offense1%
220-Assurance4%
41-Experimentation6%
7-Dine8%
68-Artifice9%
20-Adamance9%
8-Titan11%
85-Rend13%

If your goal is to avoid the Bracken, stick𝔍 to early-game maps or options like Dine and Artifice. If you want to see this monster and lea𝓡rn its behavior, stop by Vow, as this has by far the highest spawn rate for it.

Overview of Lethal Company’s Bracken entity

Instead of brute force, the Bracken relies mostly on stealth. His core mechanic involves sneaking behind your team members, snapping their necks, and then carrying the bodies away from exits and to the “Bracken room.” That sucks because it may mess with the awareness of your team, and also makes it harder to retrieve the corpses. Think of the Bracken as an evil version of Solid Snake.

What makes him really scary isn’t his looks but his ability to make players feel like the defenseless guards from Metal Gear Solid. That’s pretty bad already, but the Bracken also has some extra scary tricks up his sleeves. He’s almost completely silent until you turn around and look at him, making it easy to get caught off guard by this monster.

Make sure not to make the mistake of forgetting this monster exists, especially if you’re on a Moon like Vow, March, or even Artifice. It’s easy to get caught up in tackling louder entities like a Thumper, Nutcracker, or the Maneater, giving the Bracken the perfect chance to sneak up for a quick kill. Always watch your back or have a teammate peek around for you.

What are the Bracken’s weaknesses?

Even though he doesn’t like engaging in face-to-face combat, staring at him for over five seconds will anger the Bracken and cause him to attack and kill players in one hit. Even though staring at him for too long will make the Bracken a tougher enemy, merely looking at him and looking right away will scare him off. The best way to deal with the Bracken threat is to quickly check out every corner and act as the eyes on your teammates’ backs.

There are downsides to this strategy, though. Depending on what Moon you’re playing, you may trigger the spawning of Ghost Girl, another deadly Lethal Company monster. Ghost Girl has a chance to spawn on Moons like Rend, Titan, and Artifice, with higher odds of targeting players with the highest ins✤anity or paranoia. In other words, turning your head a lot makes you a prime target for Ghost Girl to haunt 💧you.

You also need to look out for the infamous pairing of the Bracken and Coilhead. One sneaks up behind you, while the other requires you to stare at it. They’re a deadly combo, especially if you’re forced to stare at a Coilhead, and a Bracken randomly runs up behind you and kills you. In cases like this, having a teammate to help is key, but you can also handle this in single-player by quickly leaving through the nearest entrance and using a Fire Exit door to avoid the two creatures.

Strategies for damaging the Bracken

Since Lethal Company’s release, multiple monster-killing methods have been introduced, making dealing with the Bracken much easier. A go-to strategy is to defeat a Nutcracker and use its shotgun to defeat the Bracken or any other powerful enemies👍 you encounter.

Alternatively, you can stun and kill the Bracken with melee weapons, so long as you’re careful not to stare at it for too long while beating it up. The least risky way is to kill him with landmines, but you can also use a classic Zap Gun and shovel beatdown strategy. You can also use knives from Butle♋rs if you pick a few up.

Another strategy involves a bit of luck. If you’re near a naturally spawning spike trap, you can attempt to lure the Bracken into it, instantly killing it. This tactic is difficult to pull off, especially with the Bracken’s tendencies to either run away or quickly run after you and kill you. However, if you see a trap nearby and suspect a Bracken might follow you, you can stand near it and hope it goes off as this monster coincidentally steps under it.

You can now attempt your luck against the Brackens in Lethal Company on PC.
