The news was revealed in an interview between Ryu Ga Gotoku boss Masayoshi Yokoyama and Famitsu. As , Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii‘s story will be “1.3 – 1.5 times” longer than that of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Gaiden‘s story was about , so we’re looking at an increase of about 3.6 to 6 hours. Math!

Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will boast a longer voyage than expected

Remember that this is for the story, not the entire swashbuckling experience. As most games in the series also contain heaps of side content, Pirate Yakuza should be able to hold your attention for much longer. Hell, even LaD Gaiden could keep you locked in for around 30 hours depending on how much of the game you chose to explore. It included dozens of side missions and a Coliseum, where you could spend many hours recruiting fighters and wi🥃nning events in a rough-and-tumble blood sport.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a spin-off that takes place after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the eighth mainline game in the series. It’ll likely fill in some gaps between the game and Like a Dragon 9, or at the very least give us a wacky misadventure starring Majima. Some prior allies do appear in some form or another, so it won’t be the boggle-eyed lunatic sailing alone without any familiar faces. Either way, it could make for an exciting time with plenty of action and sailing. The game launches on February 21, 2025.
